he drops plenty (well, plenty enough, I reckon), and many of the ones
he takes, he does so with wobbly hands.

He ain't half the slipper Mark Waugh was.

Is he just there coz he's chubby? :)

Disagree. Mark Waugh dropped his fair share. Warne is usually very reliable.

Counting down until someone posts the Youtube of him dropping Flem's hatrick ball.

Warne used to be very reliable, not so much anymore. Happens with age.

I've seen him take some rippers in the slip corden. Even though Warne doesn't have the same "momentum" he once had, he still has strong hands and good reflexes.

He's only in the slips cordon cos his shoulder is too ********ed to throw the ball from anywhere else in the field.

Hayden is far superior IMHO.

when warne entered the scene taylor put him in the slips to "save" his fingers apparently.

Both Warne and Mark Waugh have dropped too many 'sitters' for my liking.

well he cost fleming a second test hat trick.

but warne is a remarkable slipper when its all said and done. his ratio of catches per test is right up there. you also have to consider the amount of time he's bowling and away out of the slips too.

I don't think Warnie's of the class of Taylor and Junior but he is a bloody good slipper by today's standards

M.Waugh dropped the odd howler, but was generally sharp. Taylor ahead of Border was the best I've seen (G.Chappell and Simpson before my time).

Warne is pretty good, but the aformentioned three plus Hayden and Alderman would be ahead of him from the last 20 years.

Even some of the greatest slippers drop some sitters

It's hard fielding at slips, as Bob Simpson says, if you take 7 out of 10 at slips, you're ********in' great

Correct, Mark Waugh got pretty bad in his last year or two. Almost every match you heard 'Mark Waugh doesn't drop those very often'.

He did drop a fairly easy chance last season over here, against Notts, this bloke then went on to put on a 300 partnership with Stephen Fleming...

age.

mark waugh was a fantastic fielder in his prime, easily the match for punter, dean jones and jonty rhodes. As age caught up with him he dropped too many sitters.

Warne was a great second/third slip when tubs and mark waugh were 1 and 2, when tubs retired they shuffled down, and warne was still good.

at 36/37 he is still very good and comparable with the best, but much like mark waugh he is diminished from his absolute peak.

Given he bowls up to 1/3 of the overs a day, he is protected a bit in slips.

Warne is still an excellent slipper. Pouches far more than he drops.

The one who has inproved out of sight in the field is Langer. Hasn't dropped one in ages and has very soft hands either in the cordon or in the off-side ring. Has taken some excellent sharp chances this series.

Punter's an underrated slipper, imo.
