Langer - from International cricket
After the conclusion of the Ashes series, he's been fantastic, his replacement is Jaques.

Langer as McGrath and Gilly will atleast wait untill after the World Cup, Warne will survive a couple more years than all of them

If we win 5 nil this will be the last series for all but warne
Langer and Hayden should both be pushed after this series.
Gilchrist seems like he wants to keep going, he'll play next Australian summer but retire before tests in Pakistan.
Warne will go after the 2009 Ashes
McGrath should be pushed after the WC, we all know he won't retire gracefully.

mcgrath shoulda quit odi's after last world cup to save him for more tests. I odubt he'll play odi's after world cup but we can get a bit more out of him in the longer form of the game.

It's so long between the Sydney Test and the next Test series that I doubt we'll see immediate decisions made by any of the five. A lot can change in ten months.
Either way, I fully expect Warne to continue playing, and Gilchrist guaranteed himself another summer last night.
In this order:
McGrath (End of this series)
Langer (End of this series)
Hayden (End of next summer)
Gilchrist (End of next summer)
Warne (End of next summer)
It's important to note, that unless a tour of Zimbabwe goes ahead in June 2007, Australia will not see another test series until next summer, which means each of the above will be one year older.

Hayden, Langer and Warne's retirements are not centred around the WC so it's after either this series or end of next summer for Haydos and Langer with Warne retiring after 2009 ashes

Could be anyone but, despite his century, Gilchrist is the one who has hinted that he won't be around for long - missing family etc, so if I was to have a guess I would say him.

It would be monumental if Hayden and Langer called it quits at the same time, they've been together through so much - good times, bad times, and the rest, so it would be special for them. I also happen to think that it could make feel-good story of the summer.

Gilly. His keeping has been good but he's said in interviews that "things can change quickly" re his retirement. Also I think people on here think he's safe for a while because of his awesome knock the other day, let's not forget that most people on here had the knives out for him. I think he will retire after the World Cup, along with 1 or 2 other players - maybe McGrath and Hayden.
I think Langer has still got it and could go on til the end of next summer.

gilly i think.
langer and pigeon will have to be pushed though, but i cant see how the selectors would have the guts to tell pigeon his career is over

McGrath and Warne will try to hang on for at least another summer, both feel they can play on for longer then that.
With all these retirements who would replace each of them?

Indeed, a repeat of Lillee and Chappell's last test would be sensational I reckon. One last 100+ run opening partnership together before calling it a day.
Ideally the selectors will be keen to spread these retirements out as much as possible, losing 2 openers at once would be a huge blow (even though Jaques and Rogers seem to be ready).
Warne will play 1 more Ashes series IMO, and then that will probably be it.
I don't see why Gilly and McGrath can't go on for a while yet, but I suspect that they will cut down on there load by retiring from one format of the game (probably McGrath from ODI's and Gilchrist from tests).

Langer - Rogers
Hayden - Jaques
Gilchrist - Haddin
McGrath - Tait
Those 4 are all pretty much locks.
Warne - no stand out really, MacGill will be 38 when Warne retires IMO so I doubt they will bother with him. Bailey, Cullen, Casson, Hauritz () and Krezja will all come into consideration.

Nobody tipped Warne.
