Buddy Draft?

Sorry if this has already been done or brought up previously but i couldn't find a thread on it.

What would peoples opinions be on doing something like this?

That's the basic idea-you get to report on the player all year round, and brag about him etc. Reports of their progress at training, and even match reports would be great.

As I said, you only draft one player from the Blues (either the rookie or senior list), and report on their progress throughout the year etc.

Not if you draft someone who will play the majority of the season in the seniors.

If you pick someone that is likely to spend large amounts of time in the VFL, make an effort to get down there or find out how your Buddy went.

I can do the order no worries once/if we fill the slots up. I can get a random number generator off the net easily so it will be all completely random. Every one will be guaranteed a Carlton player so really who could possibly lose!?!?!

Here's an idea... how about if the interest dies off over the next few days then we go with the people who have put their hand up to date. The leftover players can be picked up at a later date or current contributors can post on more than one player?

Good idea (that's a surprise :p), but I'd prefer to wait a while to see if we can fill all the spots.

suggestion.....why not kick it off. with 26 we will cover most players likely to play early in the year in the 1's. Of the remaining 16, people can nominate a buddy if there is a player the like who slips through, or we can begin to think about doubling up, or running a secondary draft, or just leaving those 16 out.

The whole point of the buddy draft is that its random. If everyone just picked their favourite players then 10 or 15 of the players would have more than one person wanting them and the others would have no one!

So basically it's a closed event then,only for supporters who live in Melbourne?

As i'm not sure how any of us that live outside Melbourne are going to be reporting on a player who's regularly in the Bullants.

And don't forget, there is a trade period after the draft, so you may get a player who plays regularly for the Blues...

Its called a draft folks. We all get a pick and what comes from it comes from it. If we started picking now pretty much everyone would get a senior player and maybe people can join in later or Melbourne based fans can pick up the other players.

It is all for a bit of fun though I would think so lets do it in that spirit.

I really don't think anyone will be a nazi and expect you to know everything about the player. The main thing is that everyone gets a player and supports them throughout the year. Hence why its a 'buddy draft'. I for one wouldn't care too much if someone couldn't get to the matches, its just a bit of fun.

I decided to pick up one of our young guns as they're the future of the club and want to closely monitor the development of at least one of them this season. All 3 excite me very very much!

If he didn't know that it was going ahead then fair enough, otherwise it isn't hard to quickly log on and take your pick.
