Who bloody cares if the books are good or not (personally I'm a sci-fi/horror fantasy buff and think they are pretty good reads personally)

But the most important thing is that thanks to JK Rowlings, she's gotten an entire new generation of kids brought up on TV and video games to start reading again and using their creativity.

Look I'm not the smartest or brightest or educated person in the world, but surely it's important to encourage the kids to read the books instead of playing video games or watching too much TV/Internet usage etc ???

I have a young daughter so watch them and own them. Personally though, I am worried about young Harry. At that age, I would have been using all my magic on Hermione.

:D :thumbsu: Emma Watson is a stunner.

Love the books and seen all the movies. Books are better than the movies though... In the movies they cut out a heap (if they included everything it would be bloody long).

That's the problem of making movies out of books, you just can't cover it all plus try to build chemistry between the actors and try to insert humour and so forth.

LOTR was the same.

Wel it looks like I'm a rare fan of Harry Potter on this board... I grew up with reading it as a kid, i think i read the first book when i was about 10 or 11. Have loved it ever since.

And for all those out there who dont like the books, atleast watch the movies. If u can waste hours here on TF, then 2 hrs to watch the movie wouldnt hurt.

AndyWalkersGirl
15th January 2007, 16:48
Clayblue, what do you think will happen in the final book?

Jeremias
23rd January 2007, 09:29
One of 4 things will happen, AWG:

1) Harry dies

2) Voldemort dies

3) Harry joins Voldemort

4) They both die

Take your pick...

AndyWalkersGirl
23rd January 2007, 16:34
Voldemort will die, but harry will sacrifice himself, and voldemort kills him, while he's killing harry, someone else will kill voldy.

sheesh.

arakaan
23rd January 2007, 20:17
surely being the legend at Hogwarts, getting laid should be easy.

I'm guessing the delay is that the final scene will be Harry attending the Hogwarts Mardi Gras and emerging from the closet, at which time he will declare he has actually loved Malfoy from day one.

1. When Voldemort Attacked Harry When Harry Was A Baby, Voldemort Put A Horcrux Inside Him. Dumbledore Told Harry That Voldemort Transferred Some Of His Powers To Harry, So What I Think Is That Harry Has To Kill Himself To Destroy The Last Horcrux To Kill Voldemort.

2. When Snape Killed Dumbledore In The Cave Snape Really Died Not Dumbledore. Snape Had An Illness, Dumbledore Gave Snape Some Polyjuice Potion To Drink And Same With Dumbledore So Dumbledore Killed Snape Because Snape Wanted To Die That Way Cause Snape Was Dying.

3. Serious Black Isn't Dead He Is Just Trapped In the Veil Black Will Find A Way Out.

4. Harry Is Really Neville And Neville Is Really Harry.

I havent read the 6th book, about the half blooded prince, can someone briefly summarise? if it's not too much of an ask?

AndyWalkersGirl
27th January 2007, 13:28
Half Blood Prince?

Snape is the Half Blood Prince. (prince being his mother's maiden name).

Basically, in a nutshell, Lucius Malfoy is in Azkaban, and Draco has to kill Dumbledore if Voldemort is to release Lucius.

Snape pledges his support to Draco's mum, saying he'll look after Draco.

anyway....

Draco goes to kill Dumbledore, but is gutless, and Snape turns up and kills Dumbledore, then they run away.

Oh and somethign to do with someone called R.A.B. who has found the horcrux that Dumbledore went lookign for.

So who takes over after Dumbledore? What happens to Harry and co.? And I thought Snape was part of the good wizards? I never knew he'd betray them :/

That's kind of the point.

Although calling Snape a good wizard is a bit of stretch at any point in the series.

AndyWalkersGirl

MacGonagall takes over as Hogwarts Principal. Except now they want to shut down teh school coz its not safe anymore.

Harry and co - Harry becomes of age in the next book, and the safety curse is lifted from him (he's not safe at the Dursely's anymore).

Snape is good still. That's my theory. But yeah, everyone thinks he's betrayed them all.

Dumbledore's funeral was sad.

I reckon Harry will die. Either through sacrificing himself, or just plain murder.

And what's a horcrux?

AndyWalkersGirl
28th January 2007, 15:53
A horcrux is an item that has part of Voldemort's soul in it.

voldemort created 7 of them. I think Dumbledore has found 2 or 3, and destroyed them.

All horcruxes need to be destroyed, so that Voldemort can fully be destroyed.

Theories are around that Harry is a horcrux - hence the suggestion that he has to kill himself in order to make Voldemort 'human' and able to be killed.

gandaal

Voldies diary in book 2 was a horcrux.

Is the scar on harry's forehead a horcrux?

AndyWalkersGirl
30th January 2007, 18:46
Now you're getting it muji :)

We'll no-one is sure. Because harry has a lot of Voldy's powers.

That's why people think he is a horcrus himself, adn that is why they think he will have to die, in order for Voldy to be killed.

gandaal
30th January 2007, 21:17
It's been confirmed by Rowling that Harry is not a horcrux.

Of course, that would be horrible.

But I imagine that the last book would be incredibly close to being finished, if it isn't finished already.

That could actually happen to another fantasy series called the Wheel of Time. The series has been on going for around 20 years now and the next book, the twelth overall, is meant to be the last. However the author Robert Jordan has been diagnosed with amyloidosis, which is a life threatening disease who's sufferers have a median life expectancy of a year untreated and four if treated. And since the last book will take at least two more years to complete and the illness is significantly slowing his progress....

And no one can get out of the Veil.

easy in the prophecy Voldemort had to kill Harry or Neville maybe he went to Nevilles house and thought he killed Harry. So Harrys that little pudgy fat kid and nevilles harry. and sirius can talk to harry through the mirrors he gave him and anyone can drop somthing in the Veil to get sirius out.

Nope, not yet.

I love the books, and under normal circumstances definitely would have had it finished, but with uni committments, I just haven't been able to find the time to finish it just yet.

AndyWalkersGirl
30th July 2007, 19:42
Yes, finished the day it came out.

I like it! I did however search the internet for the spolier prior to the book going on sale, so I had already read parts of "19 years later"

That film will be good. Lots of torture and death, definately won't be for the kiddies.

Well, it took me until the Sunday to finish it. I didn't read any of the spoilers before the release, but I went back and had a look afterwards... 3 different spoilers I read, all different, only one of them accurate.

I liked it too, very much. But I wouldn't say it's my favourite of the seven... I think I liked 3 and 4 best.

She writes with wit and intellect, (much like yourself AWG!), the world is a sadder place without the next Potter to look forward to.

Thanks for the compliment, however I dont think she likes to argue as much as i do. Oh, and i'm not a billionaire :)

I wonder if there will be a sequel one day, in many years to come? I liked 3 and 4 as well, infact, pretty much all of them from book 3 onwards have been my favourites.

I've spetn the past 6 years trying to decode those texts and figure out what was going to happen :) I just hope my kids will enjoy reading it one day as much as i did.

Severus is still my favourite character, as well as Hermoine.
