Everybody loves comic book superheroes, whether they want to admit it or not, so i thought i would start a series of polls on these, so first up, Superman
There has been many versions of Superman in its time, so i was just wondering, who in your opinion was best suited to his role as the guy with the red cape/Clark Kent?
George Reeves - The Adventures of Superman (TV, 1952-1958)
Christopher Reeve - Superman 1-4 (Movies, 1978 - 1987)
Dean Cain - Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (TV, 1993-
1997)
Tom Welling - Smallville (TV, 2001 - present)
Brandon Routh - Superman Returns (movie, 2006)
IMO they are the 5 main ones, and i have to give my vote to Dean Cain. Absolutely Love the Lois and Clark series, and Dean was the first in my opinion to change his persona when becoming superman.
Chrisopher Reeve also did this, but he didnt seme to become more dominating as superman like Dean Cain did

Christopher Reeve-Changed how the role was played forever. He was the one who said Clark and Superman were two different roles. He was perfect for both roles.
Tom Welling-He only plays Clark Kent for the most part, but he does it superbly. He makes you believe he is just a normal teenager going through all these changes. The one episode where he played Kal-El was one of the best Smallvilles ever due to Wellings performance.
Brandon Routh-Looked and sounded so much like Christopher Reeve it's scary. He made it seem like he was a younger Reeve taking over the role, but there were enough differences for you to know that time had passed.
George Reeves-The first actor to really take on the role, I thought he did it well. He made Clark Kent a little more assertive than later takes on the role, his logic being that Clark, or nobody for that matter, would survive as a reporter without some assertiveness.
Bud Collyer-Voice of Superman in the 1940s cartoons, he changed his voice dramatically for Clark Kent and Superman and did it well.
Dean Cain-Never seen enough to be able to pass judgement.
Christopher Reeve, without a doubt.

I did go for Reeve, but IMO Tom Welling isn't far behind at all. He's doing a remarkable job.
Brandon Routh absolutely nailed the Clark Kent role, but I think his Superman was a little weak.

I think the real character is Clark Kent, who is human (or behaves as one, even if he is Kryptonian).
His alter ego, Superman, on the other hand is more like an 'ideal' and an example.
In other words, Clark Kent makes mistakes but Superman doesn't.
I like Tom Welling best.

I see 3 characters.
Clark Kent-A disguise. He acts mild mannered, foolish and clumsy.
Superman-A disguise. Acts overly heroic and is more controlling.
Kal-El-The true identity. He has no costume on, doesn't go around talking like Superman, acts normal but uses his powers. This is who he is with his parents and other people who know about his powers.
Pfffft. It's George Newbern.
