Telstra Stadium, Sydney
7pm Wednesday January 10
Tassie need results to go their way in all 3 matches today to make the final, but this is the only one they have any control over. The availability of Hilfenhaus will have a lot to do with their success, so they'll be hoping Lee and Johnson are passed fit this morning otherwise he'll be the cover and probably on the plane to Melbourne rather than the bus to Homebush in the afternoon. The Blues refuse to accept any criticism of Johns' lack of involvement in Newcastle and he'll play again, while they've called up batsman Jarrad Burke as a replacement for the injured Nathan Hauritz, he could only take Cowan's spot with the other non-producing batsmen needed for their bowling. Polkinghorne will be the one to make way for Hilfenhaus, maybe Wade will get a chance as either a batsman or keeper.
New South Wales XII: Phil Jaques, Jarrad Burke (domestic debut), Ed Cowan, +Brad Haddin, *Simon Katich, Dominic Thornely, Daniel Christian, David Warner, Aaron O'Brien, Scott Coyte, Tim Lang, Andrew Johns
Tasmania XII: Michael Di Venuto, +Matthew Wade (domestic debut), Dane Anderson, Travis Birt, *Dan Marsh, George Bailey, Michael Dighton, Damien Wright, +Tim Paine, Adam Polkinghorne, Brendan Drew, Xavier Doherty

I tip a crowd of less than $10K. People in Sydney don't give a rats about Johns, it is out at Telstra and NSW can't make the final.
Tassie should win this one.
Offcourse noone will show up, NSW lost to a undermanned SA. I would be embarrased to support them aswell.

Expect more tonka truck action from George Bailey. Tassie will sh*t it in.

Sounds like Krejza might make his debut in tiger colours. Tassie batting looks good for this format. Haven't seen many better innings than Baileys the other day. Tigers look unlucky to have had a match abandoned due to rain, otherwise they would have been a big chance for the final.
Anyone know if that goose Johns is playing? I really hope they have replaced him.

Are you illiterate?
What happened to Hauritz?
Tassie 2/48 off 6 overs.
Dighton has the majority of those, 36 I think.
Di Venuto and Birt out.
Tassie 2/90 off 10.1 overs.
Dighton 62 from 38, Marsh 20 from 17.
Tassie 2/115 from 12.
Dighton 80 from 44.
Dighton 98 off less than 50 balls.
This bloke was going to be the next big thing for Australia

Great innings by Dighton

Dighton gets his century of 50 odd balls.........amazing!
Why does Julian always say "swing and a miss" when they smash the ball??
like AB always says "that's like gold" to every dot ball
How great is george Bailey.
"I reminded myself of Punter over mid offwith that shot over mid off"
Big smile too. love it!

Think it's a contract agreement where they play a hit and giggle and a FRC game there. It's not even an AFL field so it's a no brainer.
Not sure of the points but can Tassie make final if we win this

Tassie will make the final, the table is in the first post with the Vics now having 7 points, WA out of the race unless NSW pull off a miracle and QLD looking like getting smashed by SA
Ok cheers eddie, NSW looking a bit of a chance here
edit..just got a wicket...nice!
Katich out, should be ours , the only danger being Johns now

Come on Filthy, smash him in the face
NSW 9/163.
Johns batted okay, he certainly didn't embarrass himself.

I'm curious how a team who did so well and took it seriously last year just throws it away this year? Or are they trying to discredit it completely because they lost? :p
NSW all out 165.
Good win Tiges. :thumbsu:

Isn't that why Johns was originally selected to play?
Well done Tassie.:thumbsu:
I thought Haddin was a pretty big out for the Blues, glad to get onto that one. I can't believe Rod tucker didn't call for third umpire on Katich's run-out, a long way short.

No 3rd umpires for state 20/20 games

Onya Joey!
Andrew Johns now has his own Cricinfo profile for life, something to savour.

Stupid NSW media - back page is all about how good Johns was- I thought we would have got into double figures or something the way they were carrying on. I laughed when I found his score and more importantly.......NSW LOST!
Well done Tassie!

And NSW came last in the comp. Exactly what they deserved for letting their marketing department select the team. It turned the whole competition into a farce.

I think some people here are taking the 20/20 comp a litle too seriously. .after all it is just a hit and giggle game put on for the women and kiddies who do not have the patience for the longer forms of the game .
Good on NSW for using a celebrity to promote the game.

The Gabba can get 27000 and not have a celebrity participating. The other games had great crowds too without the sideshow.
At this point in Twenty20's evolution, isn't the game itself the novelty without having to embarass blokes like Joey?

Why does Julian always say "swing and a miss" when they smash the ball??
I picked up on that too. Julian is a hopless commentator and mumbles too much. Mixes up his words. Back to Getaway Brendan!
