View Full Version : New , stringent "Censorship" on the Richmond board

We all know PRE (Punt Rd. End , another Richmond forum for the un-innitiated) has been off limits for some time , but now it seems that we are not allowed to discuss Danny Frawley any longer either .

Would the moderators of this board like to post a list of topics that are no longer up for discussion so that we are all clear on the guidelines ?

The great man Spud has played a huge and defining role in our modern history and for mine is more than fair game .... and don`t give me the rot of the couple of innane posts at the end of that thread for two reasons , if you shut down a thread every time Madtiger2006 said something silly , this board would resemble Jika Jika , and secondly , the option of deleting those silly posts could have been exercised , as they have on many other threads of recent times .

I feel this board is becoming over-moderated and personally i am not all that enthused about it .

Anyone else feel the same way ?

If you were having just another "Bad Day" Khan , then i feel you should relent and un-lock that thread ..... i feel it was a poor decision

i pmed khan about it as i felt the same way idgaf, he said it was because nothing new was being added to the thread and it had been done to death. i decided to leave it at that and i am over it now.

Then the new fodder will appear more regularily than Paris Hiltons snatch on the web.

I am happy to abide by the umpires decision 99% of the time but this one has gotten under my skin , really don`t agree with it

Love it IDDO. :thumbsu:

Noticed that too yesterday. The banter bounced around here is not only amusing but uniting, gives a feel that you'd have a beer with anyone here, and sneak one to the kids when their olds aren't looking.

Crack her back open Khan, that lunatics antics kept us going, and will keep us going while the alzheimers is still in it's early stages.

I'm not allowed to kick our cat when I'm feeling a bit pissed off with the world, so a good Frawley bagging can help wonders. Come on, we know it makes sense.

you are right of course, but why lose sleep over it when we can just start 'danny frawley thread 2' when we feel the urge?

There was nothing new about danny in what had been posted. Go ahead create a new post I wont close it. If you think I am being strict then I'll close the Krakoar thread that is no longer on topic, or the two spinners thread that is no longer on Cricket.

The bad day was when all that was being posted in the Krakeor Thread was posters swearing at each other, did I close it no, as people calmed down.

I did not close it because it was about Danny I closed it as nothing new was being added. have a look

If a thread is bumped with no relationship to a current topic and then nothing is added. I would close that as well to let it drop of the front page. If you wished to refernce something then put a link to that post in a new thread.

So basically, when you're bored with something it goes lol
Most threads meander all over the place - hardly cause to close them down.

Khan

Have a look at how long that thread was going and what the posts were about ? Its not when Im bored, it comes to keeping relevant threads at the top so that people who want RFC discussions can see what they are posting. There are enough junk threads to cater for that, so I culled the oldest one and let it drfift off the front page. Start a new thread if you want. If you want to reference the old one go ahead.

Why do you need to cull at all?Khan has aluded to the fact that the administrators of this board obviously have a policy of "shutting down" discussions they consider old hat and irrelevent to attracting new punters ... which = greater amounts of traffic ... which = equals greater coin from marketing ....

Sad ... but true i think .

Because , in this case there was no obvious reason to cull at all .

or the two spinners thread that is no longer on Cricket.

I would have another look

Seriously Khan ... you miss the point .

The "Two Spinners" thread is a bit of an "abstracty" type thread where we tiger supporters bang on about other sports ... now , i can hear your response , there are other boards for these topics ... yeah , yeah , yeah i know.... but i am not all that interested in talking to people i don`t know , in a nutshell , to which i am sure that a lot of people that post on the Richmond board would agree . i enjoy the rapport that i have with the personalities that i have gotten to know on here over the years and these are the people that i wish to chew the fat with ....topics that go beyond just Richmond

Now if this is deemed to be breaking the rules then we may as well pack up and go home ... seriously .

Thats what I was saying, it wasnt the topic just the bumping of a thread way to old. One of the things that peeves me on the main board is checking a topic then realising they are going on about something that happened 6 months ago and the only new comment is totally irrelevat. Duping a thread and adding something meaningfyk , fine but bumping a thread for the sake of it , no. This is a general policy that has been taken by the mods of BF not something mandated.

I was trying to point out with the other two threads that we leave enough 'junk' threads going to keep people interested, places that they can post what they like (within reason) and that we dont close threads down because they go off topic.

Khan

p.s If we were really at that level of censorship , ie banned topics. This thread would be closed and anyone who posted against me would be banned :) That aint going to happen

:) AIN'T fussed either way. As Gary Ayres would say.."at the end of the day", Khan ain't Borgsta and the Richmond board ain't the Western Bulldogs. None of us would last more than three minutes over there, it is that sanitised. We should be grateful that we basically have a "Royal Rumble" style approach over here and a virtual "free for all" approach on most topics.

I am reasonably unfussed here because I think lets just open another thread and bag that mongrel some more and all will be healed! But seriously, if the canning of D Frawley esq rates as one of the more boring, irrelevant and inane threads on this Board, someone just isnt reading the threads. I really enjoy this Board and the people who frequent it but Christ, over the past 3 months I have been moved to a grand total of about 5 posts. Am I not reading, certainly not...bored $h1tless, certainly am.

Stop feigning lack of interest TT. We all know it just takes one of HL's posts on booze and hookers to get you back to the keyboard. :D

As for the Frawley thread being locked, it seemed a bit over the top to me. Natural selection will take care of all the bs threads once the ball is bounced for the start of the season, without the need for mods to intervene. In the meantime, no reason to lock off a bit of banter in the off-season - we'll just end up with the first five pages filled with the same old "what's our best 22" type of threads instead.

Have to agree on that one.

I wrote 2 posts in Borgsta's Board which copped a totall of 2 suspensions... One for one week and the other for over a month.

Neither of the posts were breaching the rules, was just my profile.

I am happy in what we have here. Yes I may argue a point to Kahn, but realistically he does a great job.

Been too busy so far in the new year for an update on the large-lovely TT, but have bought myself a little time here during lunch to fill you in on the festive season late last year.

Firstly, some here may be aware that I work for what is generally perceived to be an extremely professional, illustrious, top-tier firm. Recent office activities would suggest anything but.

Office xmas party was pretty much canned this year, so afternoon canapes, drinks and a tame pub crawl was in order for those up for it. As the office card would be over the bar, I indeed was. The usual alcohol fuelled banter was in play, a couple of the newbies were told to pull their heads in if they wanted to fit in, a little bit of whining about the head honcho, I told one lassie behind the bar that the two zeppelins hanging out of her top made me wish she sported a beard of mistletoe, all the usual stuff.

Later in the evening, myself and a couple of the crew observed the humpback bounce back from the bar, cause extreme distress to the stool she plonked herself on next to the boss, and have a massive slurp of her charddy. Having a little chuckle at her expense, one of the young bucks spurted "would you get a f***** load of this?" and nodded in its direction. We looked over to see as plain as day an extremely innebriated boss sitting next to the well-fed sumo, his fly undone, her hand hidden and working feverishly. Looked like she was trying to pump up a basketball, unsuccessfully.

Right there and then I had to escort myself out, and head to a safer destination with a colleague. We were hunted down by a couple of young chaps who proceeded to fill us in that hippogirl had thrown up all over herself, splashed a little on the boss, and run out crying. The boss managed to track us down about an hour later, and promptly copped a pasting from the young lads for letting someone so repugnant get near his member. During this tirade, he received a message on his mobile, and had no fear in passing the message around, which read "Sorry bout that. All cleaned up now, my ar** is yours and ready to go if you still want it? See you soon hun! xxx"

That was time for me to leave, too repulsed to drop in to Goldfingers and the Gallery, (not allowed to hit the knock shops or r 'n t's anymore), and try and erase that memory from my mind.

He took her up on the offer. I can't work here any longer, I've got to get out. The only thing getting me by is the young lads bandying around the term "All cleaned up" at every opportunity they get.

Sorry to get off topic Khan.

The Danny Frawley thread should be made into a sticky.

Most of us were waiting for that monkey head to show itself as the season begins.

No harm in bumping it just to let people know where it is when the time is right to get it going again.

it serves as a monument to the fact that we survived that idiot and that despite dark days that light in the tunnel can still arise. Id rather delete any posts in it that are just inane babbling off the topic.

I agree that the forum is for Richmond supporters and I admit that durring pre season all we really have is Tim Gepp at the moment. (How tragic is that)

But that we can laugh at the fact that Frawley COACHED is a monument to our sense of humour that has kept us thirty somethings still following the club despite them robbing us of our late teens, twenties, early thirties and who knows how much more they will take.

Sorry to get off topic Khan.

If anecdotes and tales of this type of encounter were more commonplace in the off season, they would BE the topic! Beats the crap out of who is in our Best 22 with red hair and a one legged lesbian sister called Margo or whatever!

The only part that upsets me here is ........me and your boss now have something in common..although my staff member wasnt a whale but just as para and she didnt use her hands....lmao Was back in my commuting days when I had an office in Collins St and European Bier Cafe was the venue of choice. Her hurling some Kransky and Kronenberg into my strides got us both turfed out! Had to slip the laundry lass at the Sofitel a crayfish to get the dry cleaning done in time but otherwise no damage done as most of my staff had left early and even the missus's eyes cant traverse Bass Strait. I don't recommend the walk back to the hotel though!

Are we still off topic?
