even tho you never really 'give up', i think its time for us to forget bout finals and get some games into these fringe players to see weather or not we are gonna keep em.
i didn't mind moody back when he was playing, wasn't great but wasn't bad and id love to see him get a game before end of season to see how he has come along.
so far we've got collier, hendo and razzle this year from trying the young guys, and all of them look to goods. lets see what the rest of them can do

Moody has not played in the Lions’ senior team since Round 20 last year and is sure to add a bit of speed and creativity around goals.
Moody looked as gone as gone could be, but now he's back. Who would have guessed 6 months ago we would be looking at Moody to fix our goal kicking problems? But he's doing that for Suncoast so he could really add something to the team.

Moody is an unreliable shot on goal, but knows how to find the footy across half forward which the Lions' small forwards have battled to do this season.

so his kicking isn't great...dont think thats a huge problem for our team this year, he should fit right in ;)
a good small/mid sized half forward / midfielder that can actually lead and make himself a target, that sounds nice. play brownshaw out of the goal square and put moods at chf bout 40 meters out and clear everyone else out i say.

Last week Brisbane struggled to get a clear shot on goal, although the scoreboard's 5.11 suggests accuracy was again a factor, when many of the behinds were rushed. Brisbane's main problem was that, with Jonathan Brown and Daniel Bradshaw being well held, there was no one else who looked like stepping up and kicking a goal.
Matthews hopes Matthew Moody can provide another target in his first game in almost a year.
Moody, who hasn't played since round 20 last season because of osteitis pubis, is a clever footballer who knows how to find space in the forward 50 arc.
But history shows he isn't the best set shot and Matthews is taking a gamble he has fine-tuned his radar during his year on the sidelines.
"He has played some good senior football but hasn't played many games," he said.
"Those small to medium forwards, if you get two or three shots on goal it makes an enormous difference if you kick three or none, doesn't it, from your three shots?
"Purely the conversion accuracy is holding us back a little bit in terms of those medium forwards.
"That's what Moods has to do if he gets those shots."

I think I saw tears of joy in Belgian's eyes as Moody played a good game.
Still a way to go to keep his spot next year but he is a mile ahead of where he was 6 weeks ago.

He played very well last night, but didn't do to well in my deam however:o. I dreamt he had Braddles got into an on field fight and Moody came off second best:o. I have weird dreams, I know.

For a first-up game after, what, 18 months away, did very, very well. His field kicking was excellent. Good composure under pressure. No way he'll be let go, IMO.

Sounded like Moody had a good game. He took about nine marks and had three assists. Hopefully this wasn't a one-off.

Same round last year, so 12 months.

I agree, i thought he played very well - wasnt just a passenger, actually contributed. His field kicking was good and seems to have improved a fair bit since the last time he played firsts.
No doubt he didn't star but he did enough IMO, particularly in the first half with a couple of really good kicks inside 50, where everyone else was shanking it.

Matthew Moody (groin) has been forced out of the side through injury
Not good. Continuing problems with OP could tip the balance when it comes to deciding whether he should be on the list next year.

Don't get your hopes up Vipertooth. If we don't want him there's a good chance no one else will either.

Yes - it might be "police force here I come" - it is a shame when someone's body can't stand the rigours of footy

With the delistings that have been done - does this mean Moody will keep his spot ?

Who can say...
You'd think that as rookies, Tippett and Clouston would have been delisted at the same time as Kiel... so I think its safe to say they will be elevated.
May be more delistings to come yet... Moody not out of the woods yet.
I think one of Copeland and Notting were goneski, so it looks like the Possum has got another year, I hope so.

Moody delisted
1:22 PM Tue 14 October, 2008
The Vodafone Brisbane Lions today advised Matthew Moody that he will not be offered a position on the Club's playing list for Season 2009.
The decision came as part of the Football Department's list management and review process in preparation for 2009.
Moody played 34 matches and kicked 14 goals with the Club since being drafted with selection No.23 in the 2003 AFL National Draft.
The 2006 AFL Rising Star Nominee has recently struggled with groin injuries that have limited him to only nine senior matches over the past two seasons.
The Lions would like to thank Matthew for his contribution to the Club and wish him well with his future endeavours.

Tough luck Moods.
Good luck with the Police work.
His finishing skills weren't up to it and his field kicking wasn't much chop either. I think in the end he had to go, I am very surprised Scott Harding is still on the list though.

2007 Review (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9389598&postcount=57)
2008 End of Season Review
Moody would have started the season as the most likely to be delisted and with a bout of osteitis pubis during the preseason it looked like his career was over. He was listed as 'indefinite' on the injury list but by round 12 he had recovered and was back playing for Suncoast.
He played in the forward line and perhaps with a nothing to lose attitude he looked lively and was playing fairly well. With the Lions lacking small forward options, Moody got a recall to the senior side in round 20. He looked promising working his way up the ground and his disposal was sometimes a bit off but sometimes quite damaging.
It raised the possibility that he may even stay on next year, but another groin injury in round 21 snuffed any chance he had, and he was delisted at season's end.

Fremantle is expected to trial a number of delisted players, including former Brisbane Lions forward Matthew Moody, 23, over a four-week period when its pre-season campaign steps up on Monday.

Moody cleared to train with Dockers
Tim Clarke
November 10, 2008 - 11:25AM
Delisted Brisbane utility Matthew Moody has been given permission to train with Fremantle as the Dockers ramp up their pre-season.
In the rundown of unlisted players given permission to train with other clubs released by the AFL today, Moody and former rookie Chris Smith were the two names next to the Dockers.
No permissions were listed for the Eagles
A product of South Fremantle, Moody cemented a spot in the seniors in 2006 and earned a NAB AFL Rising Star nomination after an excellent night out against the Kangaroos in round 15.
But groin injuries which restricted him to just nine games in the last two years prompted the Lions to advise he would not be offered a position on the playing list for 2009.
The Lions said that decision came as part of the football department's list management and review process in preparation for 2009.
Moody played 34 matches and kicked 14 goals with the club after being drafted as pick No 23 in the 2003 AFL National Draft.

Former Brisbane Lion Matthew Moody is also training with Fremantle and the club is interested in at least rookie-listing him in the hope he can develop into a quality mid-sized forward
Moody was born on 23/09/85, which I thought makes him ineligible (too old) for the rookie list.
