This is just the start - think the writer has a raging hard-on for Jaques?
"DURING the past few summers, scoring centuries appeared as effortless for Phil Jaques as drawing breath.
Runs in his stats book ticked over like kilometres on a city cab, the hundreds piled up and Jaques was the hottest emerging batsman in the country.
This summer, however, the roaring bat has gone strangely quiet.
The prolific opener has found himself mired in a form slump, and his averages and century tally have dropped back to the domain of mortals."
What a load of ****.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...what a joke!
I found this line interesting...
Bayliss believes the pressure and focus of life on Australia's fringes may be a factor.
The pressure of having to perform is what his problem is. Eyes are squarely on him and he cannot produce.
He needs to make runs now to earn a spot in the test team and hasn't been able to produce.

Bloody hell can someone tell Fox Sports just to put sport on telly and not try to be 'experts' about it!!!!

He will fight his way out of slump.
I'm a big Jaques fan, and I firmly believe he will be the one chosen to replace Justin Langer next summer. He might be in a form slump (at the present time) but he has the ability to score plenty of runs at the start of each innings. If he plays with the same purpose we've been accustomed to, of years gone by, he should be a fine Test player for Australia.
Time will tell.

Typical fluff from the NSW love-fest of Fox Sports.
But yes, the line about him basically failing when the pressure is on it quite right.
He should not be the heir apparent to Langers spot.

Jaques has been scoring the runs tho, apart from the past 3 months, altho a couple of centuries in recent grade matches and a 50 in the one dayer today might be a sign of things to come.

Plenty of First class bowlers make runs in grade cricket so im not really sure its much of an accomplishment. Foxsports is rediculously biased towards NSW you just have to look at how many Sydney Kings games they televise in the basketball.

Typo fixed. He's averaging in the 30's this year isn't he, despite those early big scores?

Jaques is the one to replace Langer IMO.

Hopefully it means that our bowling stocks are better than ever and your average joe flat batter can't just punch scores like Jaques did before this season..
He still managed to tonk the poms, so obviously something is right with our bowlers at domestic level...:)

He had a FC average of 58+ did he not?
Thats quite impressive.
dont bowl there

This is Phil Jaques in a nutshell, brings out these amazing knocks to keep people saying "wow" but lacks consistancy. Rogers is Mr Consistant. Still i have a feeling now that Hayden will retire after the world cup so it will be Jaques and Rogers opening next summer.

Chris Rogers anyone, even though he is a ******** of a guy.
Agree with him deserving a go, but completely disagree with the statement about the bloke. Anyone who's spent time around the guy knows what he's like. Very unassuming and laid-back, but loves his cricket.

People tallk about Rogers, people talk about Jaques, some even talk about Jewell. But what about Paine? Imagine he was from the main land, IMAGINE how highly he would be rated then.
I'd really look at easing Paine's entry into test side by playing him as a specialist batsman and then giving him the glove duties. At the very least he is close to Rogers and Jaques and has age over them.
