Righto....A friend of mine has never seen any of the Star Wars movies, obviously having been brought up on them I was shocked! So I suggested a little bit of education.
My dilemma is however, do I start with Episode 1 and work my way through....or do I start with the original Star Wars (ep 4) and watch them the way the rest of us would have seen them (4-6 then 1-3).
I need your help, the first screening is tonight!!!
Cheers,

I'm not a big fan.
But i'd do it the way everyone else saw it. Start with 4 or whatever it was.
Otherwise it's not fair :)
Harrison Ford was teh best. However, i'd much prefer indiana jones.

Start with A new hope, go through to Return of the Jedi, then make them wait a few years before starting with a phantom menace, just like the rest of us
Cheers
In all seriousness, think it would be better to start with a New Hope

It's probably best if he watched them 4, 5, 6, 1, 2 & 3.

Thanks for your input guys!!!
I went with the original first...it just felt right!
Nicolbolas, on your advice, I'm going to let her watch the first 3 then wait 20 years to watch the others!!!!
Cheers again.

If you showed him The Phantom Menace first I doubt he'd bother watching the rest.

Start with the original trilogy, that way he will be more excited about discovering Anakin's past and the rise of Palpatine. More hype that way before the big disappointment. Yes, I do agree with the comment that if he were to see Episode 1 first, he'd give up.
Episode 1 was perhaps the most anti-climatic movie of all time, oh god how ******** that was. Thank you Lucas indeed. It's no wonder why some of the EU is better with his scriptwriting like that. Though I did enjoy Episode III (except the scenes between Anakin and Padme, and the "noooooo" from Vader - arrgh).
Haha I guess my suggestion is too late eh? Oh well... I'm just hoping Episode 1 doesn't turn your friend off the entire franchise. Speaking of which, next year there will be a live action Star Wars series. Lucas will not be writing it thank god, but apparently it will be every bit as dark and as character driven as Battlestar Galactica.
If that's true, I can't wait. Let's hope Jar Jar meets a gruesome end in the series.
