I'll try to provide you with information from time to time that will be mostly useless, but by the same token may allow you to sleep, knowing the answer.

To kick it off, do you have difficulty (or your kids) remembering how many days in each month>

Remember the rhyme, '30 days has April, June blah, blah, blah'.

Forget it!! No one remembers it for too long.

Here's the way to remember.

Make your hands (yes, both of them) into fists & point them away from you but next to each other.

Start with the knuckle sticking out on the very left of your left fist. OK, that's January. Then next to it, it juts in, well that's February, then the next knuckle is March, the next bit that juts in is April & so on & so forth.

Every knuckle has 31 days.

Every jutty inny bit has 30 days (Feb 28 or 29).

Simple & kids will never forget it.

Enjoy your sleep.

Read ---> Red
Out ---> Orange
Your ---> Yellow
Green ---> Green
Book ---> Blue
In ---> Indigo
Verse ---> Violet

Remember the words on the left (read out your green book in verse) & you'll remember the colours of the rainbow in order. The first letter is the same as the colour.

When I was at school, we just remembered it as a guy called Roy G. Biv.

Anyway, the kangaroo and the emu are both on the coat of arms because neither can take a backward step, or something like that....

Um, that went straight over my head. :confused:

The poem as I recall goes, "30 days hath September, April, June and November. All the rest have 31 except grandma who rides a bicycle."

Jutty inny bit is the technical term for the space between the knuckles - and also for some posters here the space between the ears.

haha

Equal Longest - Proprietor

How do you spell the word that Pty. stands for as in Pty. Ltd.

If your kids still have trouble knowing which is their left hand & which is their right hand get then to extend their index finger & thumb. The index finger & thumb in the shape of a letter L is the left hand.

The right hand is the one you write with and the left hand is the one left over.

Funny, reminds me of a mate of mine who went to a Catholic School (many years ago). He was a mollydooka until the Nuns got to him. He now writes right handed, something akin to Egyptian Hyrogliphics, it's that indecipherable.

She also had 6 toes on each foot.

It is impossible to lick your elbow.

Gorillas can't swim

Sloths can. Sloths are brilliant swimmers. They also grow their own fungus and have moths.

Sloths only come down from the trees to defecate.

Isn't Wendy derived from Gwendoline? Maybe J.M. Barrie was the first to do that??

J.M. Barrie played first class cricket.

Inventing the name Wendy was probably the only time he thought of girls in his entire life.
