Gilchrist, Warne, McGrath, Hayden, Ponting, Healy, Taylor, Steve Waugh, would all stand a chance from this era. But it will take a very long time before most of them are named (if at all).
Matthew Hayden a real chance?
You won't find many opening batsman who average over 50, or have dominated world cricket like Hayden did, but he might be a victim of his era where champions abounded in the australian team.
The same can be said of Langer. 23 centuries in any other era would be the stuff of the champion elite.
Warwick did mention Hayden

Taylor? There's no law that states that Australian captains have to be entered. He was a great player but I wouldn't put him up with the elite.

I know, I was debating it.

Yeah exactly right. It's easy to overlook many of these players just because of the guys surounding them. Usually you wouldn't mention so many current players, but the fact is, the Australian team from 1995 is one of the most dominate from any country and any era.
Hayden and Langer would definately hold claims to be considered in the top dozen batsmen this country has produced. They may both make the HoF, it could just take longer to get in than those they played with.

Was one of our greatest ever captains. He was one of the main figures in turning this team into a great team.
I don't think there is any doubt that Warney will be the first from the current players to be honoured (probably immediately in 2012).
Unless there's a Gary Ablett situation of course. Although I doubt even Shane Warne is that stupid.

Warne & McGrath will definately get in.
Healy & Gilchrist (after announcing retirement) definately in.
Steve Waugh definately in.
Ponting (when he announces his retirement)
Hayden can lay claims to get in for sure.
What about Mark Waugh or Michael Bevan?
Bevan especially is an interesting one because while he'd probably be the best ODI batsman this country has produced he couldn't cut it at Test level.

Why don't Cricket Australia have 'Legends' like the AFL does?
In my opinion, I would love to see Sir Donald Bradman, Victor Trumper, Dennis Lillee, etc, in a league of their own. But I'm happy with the Hall of Fame as it stands at present and I wouldn't change anything. Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Adam Gilchrist are the only three thus far, of the recent Ashes series clean-sweep, who could be inducted into the Hall of Fame at some stage.

in the next few years I reckon you can expect to see the following inducted:
Bill Lawry
Ian Healy
Jack Ryder
Craig McDermott
David Boon
Steve Waugh
Mark Waugh
of the current / recently retired bunch - Hayden, Ponting, Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Langer are all certainties to get in at some stage...
Huss will as well if he can keep his current form up - Lee and Clarke will probably get there as well if they can improve a little more...
Trouble is, they select 2/year.
On average, only about 3 new players enter the ranks every year.

there's still a few more they should promote who played back from the 1950's and earlier....
I'd say they'll continue with the format of honouring someone still alive & visible to the public - as well as honouring someone from earlier in the 20th century for a while yet...
That should get them through at least the next 10-15 years or so.
