This is interesting as WADA had recently signalled a relaxing of stance against athletes who 'innocently' took banned substances. Wonder if it will affect their World Cup appearance.

WADA appeals against decision to clear Pakistan bowlers

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision by a Pakistan cricket tribunal to clear pace bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif of doping bans.
The Pakistan Cricket Board banned Shoaib for two years and Asif for one year last November after they tested positive for the anabolic steroid nandrolone.
But they were cleared in the following month by a three-man tribunal which said the pair had successfully argued that they had taken supplements in the belief that they did not contain any prohibited substances.
In a statement on the CAS website on Tuesday, the Lausanne-based independent body said WADA had filed an appeal against the decision.
Under WADA's strict liability rules athletes are responsible for any substances they ingest.

CAS is notoriously slow in making decisions though - i would doubt whether a resolution would be reached before the WC...so this will continue to drag on and on....:thumbsd:

Imagine if Asif was man of the tournament in the World Cup and then banned. Would make a mockery of red tape.

i agree - i am staggered that the ignorance excuse is still accepted - I thought people stopped buying that in the 1980s...

look at the Floyd Landis thing still dragging on - Tour de France 07 will start and there'll still be a big question mark against what happened in 06
