For those of you who havn't yet seen it.

Essendon skipper Matthew Lloyd is hopeful of playing in Friday night's clash against the Indigenous All Stars despite battling a corked thigh.

Lloyd sustained the injury last Saturday during an intra-club match at MC Labour Park, but is eager to return to the field after a debilitating hamstring injury ruined his 2006 season.

"I'm hoping to (play)," Lloyd said on Thursday.

"I've got no doubt in a home-and-away game I'd be playing.

"I've never missed with a corked thigh before, but we'll work it out with 'Sheeds' and the medicos."

Lloyd has not played since round three last year when he tore his hamstring from the bone during the Bombers' match against the Western Bulldogs at Telstra

Lloyd ruled out of All Star clash

Thursday, 8 February 2007
Essendon captain Matthew Lloyd will not play against the Indigenous All Stars tomorrow night. Lloyd trained well last night but selectors - in consultation with Lloyd - opted to leave him on the sidelines tomorrow night with the NAB Cup opener just two weeks away.
Looks like hes not playing.

It would be pointless to risk it by playing in a game like this.

Sit it out this week and kick 10 against carlton in a fortnight sounds much better.

I'd prefer if Hird missed as well

He really does need some game time against actual opposition as they need to get off to a flyer this season to instill belief in themselves that they can turn their fortunes around. Anything less than 2 wins in the first 5 games of the H & A will pretty much all but end our chances again.
