Hawthorn Board Poker Tournament

For all you wannabe Poker pro's out there like myself (;)), i've been thinking about having an online poker tourney on a site like www.pokerroom.com, but I think now's the time to finally get around to it.

Just getting an idea first of who'd be interested and then we'll set a date for some time in the next 3-4 days.

If you are interested, post your interest here and i'll organize a time and date that suits us all. Also, just so things dont have to happen at the last minute, go to www.pokerroom.com and sign up a username (it's free, dont worry, otherwise I wouldnt bother :D).

You'll need to be a 'member' for at least 48 hours I believe before you are able to view the 'private rooms', where the tournament will most likely be held.

I'm looking forward to seeing who of us is the best poker player. ;)

Dont worry, hawkaz, I think we're all (kolchak excepted as i've seen him lurking around the poker forum ;)), pretty average poker players. None the less, it should be a bit of fun and, if we get enough interest in this one, we can try and organize a bi-annual event with the winner to win a Grand Prize!

I just tried to register and it wouldn't work. I clicked on register and it said it would send me an email so I could activate my account. I never got the email and when I tried to register again it said that my email address had already been taken!?!?! I hate the internet sometimes!

Just make a time and go for it - then next time, try a different day/time.

No need to go to those lengths, Roughie - i'll just outline what to do here!

Steps to participating in tonights Poker Tournament:

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, you unfortunately need to be registered with PokerRoom for at least 48 hours before you can view Private Rooms. For those who just registered in a time frame less than that, I really do apologize, but hopefully you can compete in the next tournament!

Now, the details.

1. Go to www.pokerroom.com

2. Sign into your account using the tabs on the top left of the screen.

3. Once your in, you'll see three little circular icons on the top left of the screen. Ignore the 'person' shaped one, instead click the icon of dollar sign first.

4. A new page will come up. There will be lots of different headings (i.e Account Balance, Loyalty Program etc). Scroll to the bottom one saying 'Play Money'. If there is $1000 indicated, then you are fine. If there isnt, press the 'refill' button and 1000 dollars will be generated for your account.

5. Then go back to the top left of the screen and click the button with the arrow pointing right. A separate Java screen will pop up once you approve the applet (a few people could have issues with Java, but hopefully we'll be alright).

6. In this new screen, you'll see a variety of different tabs on the top left side of the window (i.e Texas Hold'em, Omaha etc). Click the one saying Private.

7. Then, go to the tab indicated 'Medium' and then scroll down and look for a room called 'tandooriphil'.

If you have any worries, just post them on here and i'll do my best to answer them ASAP.

Otherwise, i'll see you in the room!

The game tonight is more of a 'trial run' of sorts rather than the official bi-annual event which will be held later on (in a month or so on the eve of our first match!)

Good idea, Rusty. Depending on how many people put forward an interest in playing on Monday, i'm more than happy to organize another tourney for then.

Remember guys (and girls), you'll need to sign up to Pokerroom (dont worry, it's free) very, very soon if you want to be able to play on Monday (to eradicate the 48-72 hour probation period the site has).

Also, hopefully hawkaz will be able to play this time given he was unfortunately unable to access the room last time.
