Thought I'd kick start this with some info on Jake Edwards, whom I selected in the buddy draft. I'm sure the mods can move it when we get the sub-forum up.

I've been down to training half a dozen times, but haven't yet watched Edwards particularly closely... better fix that! When I have noticed him it's been because of his pace, especially over the first five metres. Look for him to really put the after-burners on when he first gets hold of the ball, but then dispose of it quickly rather than carry it.

Anyway, here's some comments collected from other posters on here and on TC (love the one about him being better than Hamill at the same stage, especially when you consider the author):

I believe that Edwards picked up an injury towards the end of last year also. Vague memory that he might have tweaked a knee or something.

Yep, he has been on some pretty light training lately.

Edwards took part in full training today.

Down the other end Bower and Edwards were practicing there set shots at goal under TD watchful eye, who was telling them not to lean back when kicking as that is were you lose control of your kicking and the ball will drift to the side (drifts to the right for a right footer).
Bower didn't missed many and I was impressed with his skills.
Edwards it a tank already with a beard to boot (does not look like a teenager ) His kicking was pretty good to with not many missing.

There was more, blokes like AB and Stevo and Kouta doing their things. Fish's glorious hands, Edwards running, Harts... There is some serious talent there and with time and some licence to create we will hurt teams with our spread of height and pace. For now I am enjoying watching the kids develop.

JR will be seriously pushed by Grigg, Ando, Edwards, just to name 3 off the top of my head. Looks bigger, moves well but there are many competing for those 'fringe' places.
Edwards wing/forward - like the way he moves and has beefed up.

I see Jake Edwards as a wingman who can go forward and play on the half forward flank.
If he put on a ******** load of weight, does anyone else reckon he could play that role Hamill did in 2000? i.e. making way for the CHF (at the time it was Lance) to take marks.

No doubt PJ. Jake has more talent then AH at the same time. AH survived his early days due to his attack on the ball and his shear physical aggression. Jake won't take a backward step and once he puts on some good size and starts to get use to the tempo he will step up quickly.
Jake actually reminds me of a taller version of what Carlton wanted when it drafted Chris Massie. Massie is a better kick but Jake is quicker and more mobile. Jake is possibly a better mark. Both are very brave and really put their head over the ball.

I can't get over the size of Jake Edwards, the kids a unit .
I see in earlier posts that he has a bit of toe, i hope he is still quick now that he has put on the weight.
Looking forward to having a good look at him this year.

He was up foward for the Blue team in the 1st qtr, I think he may of kicked a goal. Started on the bench in the 2nd qtr. Him, Russell and Cloke will be looking for better games on the 14th

Jake Edwards - Played the first half (precautionary as he just recovered from an injury) and had his hands on it may be 4-7 times. Played on Walker and seemed to be a good match up size wise but Walker had him covered when the ball was at ground level. He will be ok for us in the forward line this year. Probably wont play every game but will definitely get his chance and it will be up to him (obviously) to cement his spot as there are a few players that are a similar type.

Jake Edwards...hardly got a mention so far. I thought he looked the goods this morning. Looks a very powerful athlete. Seems to be a tad quicker. And his kicking was very good. Distance and accuracy.

Intraclub Match 14 Feb:

Jake played CHF for the red team, and his opponent for most of the day was Jarrad Waite. Waite had the better of the duel, but played very wide of Jake. Interesting to ponder - is Waite too unaccountable for CHB, or did he take advantage of running off a weaker opponent? In my view both may be true.

Anyway this is about Jake, not Jarrad. When Jake had to compete against Waite he got murdered.. Waite was just too strong and too experienced... no contest.
However Jake still found plenty of space and seems to be a good reader of the play. In the first half he had about 7 possessions, of which 6 came from marks in the forward half (mostly uncontested).

Early in the third quarter he hobbled off with some kind of leg injury, but was back ten minutes later and played out the remainder of the game.

He was quieter in the second half but did kick one nice running goal late in the third quarter.

Overall I'd give him a 5 or 6 out of 10 for this game. I think we might see Jake in the NAB Cup - it might depend on how many games we get. He wouldn't seem to be threatening to break into our best 25 just yet, but clearly has some pace and some talent.
