Stuart Clark, the most high profile omission from Australia's World Cup squad, could return to county cricket during the off season if a deal with Hampshire can be arranged. It would mean an enticing partnership with Shane Warne, who he shared 49 wickets with during the Ashes series.
Discussions about a move to the Rose Bowl began during the Ashes series, but it had been widely expected that Clark would line-up for the World Cup and be part of Australia's long-term one-day plans. Now, though, he is eager to play more cricket in an aim to show confirm his standing among Australia's best all-round pacemen
"The chance to play with Warney again would be fantastic," Clark told the Sydney Morning Herald. "I have really enjoyed the few opportunities I have had to bowl with him in the past, and to get the chance to do that again would be great.
"My immediate focus is on this Pura Cup season with NSW, but beyond that, there are certainly a few opportunities out there. I have played for Middlesex quite recently, and there was talk earlier this season about an opportunity at Hampshire. We might look to reopen those talks. It's in my manager's hands."
Clark's stint with Middlesex came in 2004 and 2005. During his time at Lord's be bagged 25 wickets at 25 apiece and was called up to Australia's Ashes squad in 2005 as cover for Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee, but didn't make his debut until the tour of South Africa in March 2006.

Ah c'mon... we have Waaaaaarnie. The legend himself... THE most adventurous Skipper on the County circuit who isn't afraid to cut corners and take a few risks like placing a Short leg and Silly point in for a Medium Pace bowler.

Hants close to Clark deal - Warne

Hampshire skipper Shane Warne has revealed Australian fast bowler Stuart Clark is close to becoming the second overseas player at the Rose Bowl. The 31-year-old Clark has agreed terms and is waiting for final confirmation and approval from Cricket Australia.
Clark took 26 wickets in the 5-0 Ashes demolition of England but was left out of Australia's World Cup squad.
"He's probably close to the number one fast bowler in the world at the moment," Warne told BBC Radio Solent.
"He's been sensational, he took 8-58 the other day for New South Wales (against Western Australia), including a hat-trick.
"He's a Glenn McGrath type bowler, but probably a yard quicker. The club will really enjoy having him here."
Clark spent a season at Middlesex in 2005 and was briefly added to the touring Australian squad that summer.
Last week he said he was keen to work in tandem again with leg-spinner Warne, who retired from international cricket following the Ashes series.
"The chance to play with Warney again would be fantastic," Clark told Melbourne newspaper The Age.
"I have really enjoyed the few opportunities I have had to bowl with him in the past, and to get the chance to do that again would be great."

The move gets a little closer... above from the BBC Website.

Whats wrong with clark?

He plays for NSW and dominated the poms in The Ashes. That's probably my reasoning as to why Eddie hates Clark.

Australia's World Cup fast bowler Stuart Clark has signed a two-month deal with Hampshire. Cricket Australia is expected to approve the move on Tuesday, meaning Clark will team up with Shane Warne at The Rose Bowl.
Hampshire's move for Clark, which was spearheaded by Warne as the club captain, had been on the cards since the Ashes, but his late call-up to the World Cup squad has resulted in him starting a couple of weeks later than originally planned.
Clark, who came into the outfit for Brett Lee, will certainly enjoy the surfaces at The Rose Bowl which, although they have flattened out in recent seasons, still offer quality seam bowlers plenty of encouragement. If approved it will be Clark's second stint in the counties after he played for Middlesex in 2005.
