Read an article in The Fin Review tlast week where he had a bit to say about the Howard Government and its future legacy.


What he said almost painted him as a moderate. Was he? I dont remember thinking of him in those terms, but my views about a lot of things have changed since those days.

I really cant remember much about his social policies or what his own morals were. At the time he was painted as just a guy with a new tax and I fell for it, and didnt bother to scratch much below the surface.

So what would Australia be like now if he had become PM in '93?

Would it be much different?


Am I so 'Howard fatigued' that anything looks good in comparisin?

I think it would be similar, because all moderates have to sell their souls to the more extreme in the party.

Except we'd likely have Mr Beasley in today.

WTF ? was my initial reaction to Hewson's article

then I went back and read "Fightback !" - his 1993 election policy document

WTF ? is still my reaction

I guess a Leopard can change its spots after all :confused:
