Good on him for being dedicated to his new position if it is one?
I know a lot of you never liked him at Port because he was an ex-crow and ex-Glenelg but he was also ex-Footscray.
One wonders whether he was too happy with the crows anyway after being sacked by Blight?

Him being ex-Crow and ex-Glenelg had nothing to do with my dislike. It was purely he was an ex-midfielder who clearly had no clue how to handle a forward line, yet in charge of it. I was happy with Pittman being at the club and think he did a good job. If we get more ex-Crows in the future, provided they know what they're doing then so be it.

I wish McGuiness success as a runner, as long as he doesn't try and do impromptu coaching off his own bat then all will be fine :p

I think its good.

If anyone is qualified to run around in circles and avoid all contact with the opposition its Tony.

Nah - seriously cant see a problem with it.

From the occasions I saw him at training, I was impressed with the way he spoke to players and explained to them better ways of involving themselves in the play.

When he was interviewed on radio after his decision to quit he sounded surprisingly passionate about the club and the development of the young players, and he seemed keen to retain some involvement.

I can live with him running around the ground. Better than being in the box influencing the decisions ;)

I wonder what would happen if a player clobbered him... like he did to a runner a few years back...

I find it hard to understand a lot of the angst towards Tony McGuineth. I seem to recall a lot of loathing towards his brother Phil at Glenelg, but he finished up being warmly embraced when he came to Alberton and won a few Flags. In return he has totally embraced the culture at Port, now a passionate Magpies and Power man.
