This thread is to discuss Ross Young.

It will be used throughout the season for everyone, and will be the home for his buddy poster.

Got noticed for an error against the Bombers but I noticed him for that beautiful run down the left wing and spotting up a long kick to Saddo by himself on a forward flank. Also got bagged for a lack of pace but there was once instance where he chased the ball and closed down an opponent on the left half forward flank, where he appeared to have blistering pace. Are appearances deceiving?

Guy can play. Highly likely to get promoted off the Rookie List.

Stay tuned.......

Yep. Agree with both those cases. They stood out to me too.
needs to keep producing it though to really push his case. Given the number of young (no pun intended) recruits with talent, the rookies are really pushing the proverbial uphill to get on the list.:thumbsu:

i went to the collingwood match with a female friend who went for the blues, but didnt have a great knowledge of the game. anyway i made Ross Young out to be champion and every time he touched it we were going crazy! and the goal he kicked just topped it off. it was pretty funny.

but yeah he has been pretty solid so far, has a good kick on him and has good footy smarts.

How is RY going?
are we just playing him now to see if we put him on our list?
has he been playing good footy in the ants
is he earning his spot in the ones?

what type of player can he be?

May develop into a handy player, but with guys coming into the midifield each year that are quick and skillful (Supposedly Grigg, Anderson, and next years bunch plus Stevo back) its hard to see him hanging onto a spot at his current level.

I like his work ethic but just lacks that little bit of pace.
Hope he take on the challenge and develops a bit over the pre-season.

I really doubt he'll be on our list next year. Doesn't deserve promotion and will probably struggle to maintain his rookie spot. Don't see the point in rooking him for another year when at 24 there is less scope for improvement then say an 18 or 19 year old.

I reckon Iacobucci deserves another crack at the top level and might take his spot on the rookie list.

It's kind of an embarrassing that at his age and with his limitations and inability to hit a target that he's getting a game.

I hope the new coach gives him the flick at the end of the season. Sorry Ross but when you have twenty seconds to make a decision about how you're going to kick it into the forward 50 and you still pick out an opposition player then you just aren't good enough... especially at 23 years of age.
