I don't think we will line up this way, but this is what i would like to see. Don't know where Whitnall is at re: injuries and need for match practice, but I am resting him and giving Josh the nod at CHF, i would like to see Harts come on and get a run at CHF resting Josh as well....want to see Fev get some match fitness, Kouta included to add some experience and leadership. We have seen that Jacko has some potential, but i really want to see how Ross Young goes, I was pleasantly surprised at the intra-club game and think he might surprise a few people and make the step up. Would give Russell a tagging role and shuffle the midfield around accordingly, so Anderson might even start on one of the Bombers small quick forwards.

Miss out: Lappin, Bentick, Jackson and Young
Whilst that's my pick, I'm not sure it will happen as:
We'll probably need Bentick as another ball winner - Anderson may give way.
Lappin is likely to play due to experience, not sure who'll give way for him.
I like Anderson in the team, as the Bombers have both Davey and Jetta whom I think Carazzo, Ando and Russell should match up on.
We also need size down back, with Lloyd v Setanta, Lucas v Waite, Johns v Saddo. Hartlett gives us flexibility to change these match ups.
Who knows.....can't wait to find out!! I think this may be a spiteful contest!

Why does everyone seem to be including 4 x 190+ defenders in their teams? Is it just for the sake of including them all based on the fact they are defenders?

The result doesn't matter too much. We just wanna give certain players a run.
I'd play:
B: J.Saddington S.O'hAilpin M.Lappin
HB: A.Walker B.Thornton J.Waite
C: K.Simpson N.Stevens H.Scotland
HF: R.Houlihan J.Kennedy B.Gibbs

I really think we should have a crack at it. The last thing we need for team morale, after a positive and relatively injury free pre-season, is a 9+ goal thumping straight off the bat.

I wonder if theres any reason for their exclusion.
Its kind of funny how at NAB time, teams only play their youngest, most inexperienced teams. As if to pre-organise an excuse for losing.
No confidence will be lost to the bombers if they lose, they can just say, "well we didnt play stanton, Mcphee and Johnson."
But thats what i like about the NAb cup, as gutless as it may be. Would kind of be refreshing to see a team go out there with everything they've got.

I don't mind Scotland mate, i think he is more than handy and was probably in the best form of his career last year. I would have him in my starting 18 come round 1, if i have excluded him before it was an oversight. As for the NAB cup, i just think it's time to give JR a red hot crack and after watching him at the intra-club i think he is primed for a major tagging role this year, that's why i would like to see him start tomorrow night. Grantedly I am not privvy to all training sesisons, but i am all for positive reinforcement and i saw him have a RHG last wednesday and think he deserves a crack.

the whole point of the NAB cup IMO is to try out youngsters and see where they can play, and what value they can add to the season proper.
I like Carrotts - he's been dynamite in the midfield this pre-season - which is why I said, I found it hard to leave him out along with Lappin, Kouta and Young.
I only excluded him, so we could get to see an unknown quantity either in Grigg or Edwards. While Carrots is good, he's not a focal point for our side- his absence wouldnt be as much as that of leaving out Stevens.

Tall backline yes, but Essendon have a tall forward line. We can out run them on the rebound as their forwards don't have the same level of endurance.
Midfield looks very solid, it may involve a swap of Houla and Gibbs. Carrots IMO has over taken Bentick.
The forward is as you would expect, Lance will provide real head aches wandering around the ground and doing as he pleases.
I like the followers, Stevo's had a big preseason and Murphy is just a gem.
The bench is a good mix that will provide excellent releif throughout the whole set-up.
Cheers people!
