Brett Lee is one of the friendliest, most approachable guys going around.

Simon Katich is also extremely friendly.

McGrath is a ratbag when around teammates.

Symonds is hilarious when around people he knows.

Ponting is a nice guy.

Boony loves a drink, is extremely passionate about the game, and called me a garden gnome.

I used to work at RM Williams and we fixed a pair of Symond's boots just after the World Cup which he starred in and he came in and did the whole tour thing when he went to pick them up. I'm not sure whether he was tired after celebrating too hard or he just tried to impress by acting extremely polite but he was pretty quiet, possibly a combination of both. He was a top bloke though.

Met Nante Hayward in Melbourne a few years back in the company of his obligatory good looking blonde girlfriend. Seemed a nice enough bloke.

Whatever happened to him....

I also remember Simon O'Donnell throwing his bat in the dressing room after being dismissed whilst playing for Essendon against Fitzroy. He then sulked on the boundary fence and gave me the evil eye after I had the audacity to clap after the Roys took a wicket . W@nker....

Hayward still plays a bit of domestic cricket but I read that he fell out of favour because he's an Afrikaner who refused to speak English among his teammates because he thinks it's a foul language.

those that definitely don't qualify (that I've met anyway) include Dean Jones, Brad Williams, Michael Bevan, Simon O'Donnell & Ian Healy

IMO opinion cannot go past John Scholes... Barrell is a legend of the domestic game and probably the nicest people I've met period. Incredibly sad day when he passed. :(

Still got a bat he selected for me whilst he was working at Grey Nicholls. I played it in for 6 months during the off season... what a sweet spot!

Unbelievable captain, leader and mentor too.

I think I was sitting behind Brad Williams' family one time when he was playing an ODI. I was ripping into him hard and the people in front of me took particular offence and they seemed to be the only people in the ground supportive of him.

I have met quite a lot of cricketers, the one's that stand out as tossers for me were, Nasser Hussain, Stuart Law, Stu MacGill and Jimmy Maher.

Brett and Sean Lee were both top blokes and really friendly, Allan Border friendly if a little boring, Simon Katich really good guy, Richard Chee Quee hilarious and off his head, Dennis Lillie great guy and fantastic with the laidies, Warnie outstanding and really friendly guy, Darren Gough really good guy.

The rugby boys win hands down though for being real w##ks, probably one of the rudest guys I have ever had the misfortune to meet was David Campese - what a prize pr##k, George Gregan was not much beter and hopefully I wont meet any more rugby boys

I've met a few cricketers (most of these guys I met during the Ashes tour of 2005) and most of them were pretty good, Rodney Hogg was really good for a laugh and told really good stories, (but he was known for having a bad case of White Line Fever), Also, I liked the fact that he's not afraid to stick his neck out, I read in Alpha Magazine this month about his opinon of Brett Lee & his celebrations (which wasn't too kind, BTW).

Damien Fleming, Darren Berry & Colin Miller were good company as well, and most people that have met either one of these fellas think the same way, (Funky, especially).

Geoff Lawson wasn't too bad, (although he did get a bit stand-offish at times), but given the right mood, he wasn't too bad.

Stuart McGill was an absolute w#nker, and Dean Jones, he's definately a FIGJAM, that's for sure (Fleming, Berry & Miller didn't have much time for him either, and the stories i've heard about him whe he was captaining Victoria, were pretty bad, no wonder the rest of the players mutinied, and the same happened again when he captained Derbyshire), but that being said they were good cricketers, just average people.

Merv's Merv, just larger than life.

Graham Gooch seemed OK, he was an after-dinner speaker at a function I attended at Edgsbaston, and he stayed for ages signing autographs and just talking to as many people as possible.

But, apart from that I haven't met many celebrities (except about a dozen boys from North Melbourne circa 1996, who included Darren Crocker, Wayne Carey, Anthony Rock, & Wayne Shwass) who were staying at Anthony Stevens's parents place near where my parents had thier farm, in Northern Victoria.

They wanted to buy some bobby calves from us and they had their trucks & cars at our place, we made a deal and the boys shifted the calves on the back of the trailer and they were all pretty good, and it seemed that (at that time at least) they really enjoyed each other company.
