From what i saw yesterday, your side is very very good.
Geelong clearly had something to prove yesterday, and you did it very well. Your side in general, all clicked together, they all worked together well. Ottens was very good, if he can capture his 2001 form, your side will be very good.
Gary Ablett is a freak talent, i watched him yesterday and it was the best form i'd seen him in for quite a while. Admittedly, i didnt rate him as much as a player, but i definatley have changed my opinion of him.
Im pretty sure Chapman didnt play yesterday, and if King can get back in fitness, i dont think making the 8 will be much of a problem for the Cats.
Every year a side from outside the 8 has made the 4 the next year, right now there would be absolutley no doubt that it would be Geelong from anybody else outside the 8 in 06.
Good luck Geelong :thumbsu:

Good luck Geelong :thumbsu:mate I appreciate this type of post, and yeah Gary Ablett Jnr. as an onballer really brings out his brilliant talent, to those who say Geelong have no superstar is bullcrap because Gazza has only played small forward but as an onballer as shown yesterday to anyone watching the game shows he is one of the most creative players in the game and a ball magnet.
P.S Yes I know it's only round one of the NAB cup but c'mon use your imaginations.

Yeh they do. They just have to continue to play like they did yesterday and you should be competitive for the rest of the year.

They definitely have a "good" side, maybe even better than "good". Your main problem as I see it is that Ottens hasn't yet come on to the extent of his potential, meaning Mooney has to do too much. This was most evident during the West Coast game last year, in which Mooney was switched to CHB and you got smashed.
If Tom Hawkins can hold down either CHF or CHB in a couple of years, and Harley, Scarlett, Ling and co. are still there, you should be in for good times. :)
ill say no because if i say yes we'll have another bad season

We, at the moment, have a "good" side. It's not "very good" but it is good.

u blokes were the best side of the pre-season
came out all guns blazing after the heart breaking loss to sydney in the SF of 05, the catters had something to prove and were looking good, then it all fell apart
having king, harley and ottens all fit and firing makes the catters look so much stronger, could do anything in 07

Yes they have all the tools. Great engine room with Bartel, Corey, Ling, Chapman, enright and co. Also lots of creativivity if ablett is thrown in there.
Big targets up forward in Ottens, N Ablett and soon to be Hawkins. Solid backline also.
But you still have to put it together and play consistently which is were they fell apart last year. But i believe if they have a good season could be top 4

Good but not good enough..
the only negative comments seem to be coming from the Blues camp.
LOL here were you bloke's saying Gibbs was gonna be better than Hawkins, when the big fella clearly dominated the hell out of the under 18's and got the medal to prove it...And now Geelongs pick no.7 Selwood so far looks better than Bryce and yet Tomahawk hasn't even debuted yet.:D

What so you think your team is good enough to make top 4 and challenge for the flag?
West Coast
Fremantle
Sydney
Bulldogs
St Kilda
Adelaide
All of them are a much better chance than the Pussycat's to win the flag this year

No we don't, total rubbish. We should apologise for winning the NAB cup last year too.

Yeah i think so. It's just a consistency problem. The gap between their best and worst was pretty big last year. I think they'll rise up again this year. If they win around 14 or so games get on G.Ablett Jnr for the brownlow.
I dont agree with the trolls. Geelong could smash any team on their day.

Nice call, i agree bad side, hopeless no good.
The ability is there but you have to question the mental application. So far there has been positive noises coming from the club about the mental side of our game but that can only be truly evaluated when the season proper begins and runs its course.
As we found out last year, playing well at this time of year, while a positive, means bugger all if you fall in a hole in April like we did last year. I think the appointment of Harley is a good move and that King and Otto will both have much better seasons this year. Selwood a real bonus, thanks Port! ;)
