Sachin Tendulkar
Stephen Fleming
Ricky Ponting
Michael Clarke
Shahriar Nafees
Inzamam ul-Haq
Mark Boucher
Steve Tikolo
John Davison
Mashrafe bin Mortaza
Makhaya Ntini

Left out Anil Kumble and Marlon Samuels for this game. Doing a bit of experimenting with my order, too-Clarke moving back to 4 which enables Tendulkar to open, Davidson down the order, and Nafees in the middle.

Looks like a very strong team, especially with the batting. Let's see how that goes.

Graeme Smith
Ed Joyce
Virender Sehwag
Kevin Pietersen
Ross Taylor

Leaving out Asif for this format, his numbers dont stack up all that well.
If he plays in the Windies... those numbers will improve!!
One floor in this system is it rewards those who dont have a keeper.. and have chosen a batsmen instead. Oh well still a bit of fun

I thought about that, and decided that it's best to wait until all teams are in, rather than just starting matches willy-nilly.

In that case, when all teams are in, I can run round 1 all together, then people can see their results, and decide if they are to make changes for their round 2 teams. If not, they just tell me they are unchanged, and then once all teams for round 2 are in, I'll run round 2, it keeps things a bit simpler.

Also, would you guys prefer if I started a new thread for every match? Or just posted each match in here (it would be much easier to follow if I started a new match thread for each match)

DC-As I also have the sim, I'm happy to run some of the games. Would make it much quicker. All I would need are the stats for each player.

They are in the other thread J... lets see what he wants to do, he may well of typed a few teams into the sim already.

I've got all teams in the sim besides DIG and Sublime, and if more than one person runs the matches, you'll have half the stats, i'll have half the stats, and then we'll have to send each other stats to get them correct...

I'll run it all myself, just keep things simple, it wont take me too long, because their wont be deadlines and wont be days between games, whenever teams are in, I will do the matches almost immediately, it wont take very long at all.

Jeremias
27th February 2007, 18:13
OK, fair enough DC.

If you need my help just ask :thumbsu:

Honestly, I think we should get this going. Doesn't matter if we don't have all the teams-some groups have all their teams submitted, let's get a move on with them...

Djibril Cisse
27th February 2007, 18:13
Thanks for the offers guys, but since there isn't all that many to games to sim, it would keep it simple if I did them all, I think that's why you'll find only eddie runs the BFFCL comp, or else, if more than 1 people did it, then the stats would get mixed up, and it's harder to keep track of.

Wont take too long, hopefully for guys like Kahuna and Sublime who aren't on all that often, if they choose to decide to use an unchanged team for the whole tournament, it would make things run a lot quicker, but over-all, it shouldn't take too long anyway.

I'm just putting DIG's team into the thread, I will sim all round 1 matches besides Sublime's match, then we will have to wait until he submits a team to complete round 1.

Thoughts on New threads, or just post games here?

Jeremias
27th February 2007, 18:17
I don't have any preference. I think that we should have them all in the one thread, just make sure they are marked clearly-otherwise it will take too much space. Perhaps after each game youc an post an updated group standings as well. And it might be worth editing your first post in this thread to include just the results from each game, that would make it easier to navigate IMO.

Just for those wondering, it's 4 points per win, no bonus point stuff, 4 for the win, 2 for the tie and 0 for a loss. I will update the first post with results and a ladder after each match has been completed.

I will start 1 new thread for all matches, and progress can be followed in there.

Round 1 between Jeremias (my brother did the spelling wrong, so blame him) and Kahuna has been simmed and posted.

I don't want to start round 2 before round 1 is finished, so, at this time, we are waiting on Sublime to sim his team.

Guys, I am sorry about the bowling combinations, but all bowlers who have an average will bowl, and I put their real averages, thats why Brian Lara opened the bowling in one game, he has a bowling average of 15 in ODI's, and he had the lowest average from his team.

Just the way the sim runs.

I'm thinking of opening the bowling with him and Ntini next match :D

Can we try and get the whole competition done and dusted tonight?

Then maybe we can just have practise matches between the different teams until the World Cup. Coaches can negotiate between themselves, and they can play a series against eachother. Maybe even tri-team competitions.

Thoughts?

Fine by me, I'm guessing no-one will be too disappointed that they cannot change their teams. If that's the case, I will sim all the games, then at the end of it all, do all the stats and catches/stumpings etc.

I will start simming some more matches.

Thats how cicket do it aswell, runs and wickets for compared to against... exactly the same as percentage - not just who has the better attack.

That was wrong. Should've factored in wickets as well as runs or even just winning margins somehow. cfc05 very unlucky - penalised because the computer XI batted first against him only.

But then again i only lost my game by one lousy arsey wicket so cfc05 may not have made it anyway!

Schmeh it's all a bit of fun. And what's a tournament without some controversy :D

I also have Bond and Bracken who are both averaging low twenties with the ball :p

I may not have big named players with sky high averages, but I am confident in the team I have, Gayle in a home WC, Tharanga to take over from Sanath, de Villiers is god, Strauss to return to form, Hodge to tear the WC apart, Atapattu to consistantly score runs, Justin Kemp will bat and bowl, as will Irfan Pathan, Nathan Bracken will take plenty of wickets, Jerome Taylor in a home WC, and Bond if he stays fit will tear it apart too.

Then, i've got Robin Uthappa who is going to be on fire with India, opening the batting, keeping Sehwag in the middle order, and Brendan Taylor, who can bat, bowl and is a very good wicket keeper, I've got an all round very good squad, and in the real WC, they'll show you all up, with your big names, like, Ponting, Hussey, Pietersen, Lara, Tendulkar!! We'll see :D

It's gonna be awesome.

And worryingly i can see myself up at all hours glued to games like Bermuda vs Sri Lanka to see if Mahela Jayawardene makes any runs!

All the teams look strong, i just can't pick a winner yet.

LOL I didn't win a game that is pretty disapointing with some of the players that I had.
