Carey is one of if not the best players ever. Fletcher isn't even the best defender of his era (Silvagni and Jacovich were in my opinion superior, Steven definitely).

Stupid poll. Defenders never get accolades, no matter how good they are. In 1993, Fletcher was a Premiership full-back in a year when he was still doing his VCE and playing school footy for Essendon Grammar (his dad Ken was the coach). A lot for a young boy to have on his plate.
Carey was the youngest captain ever and had attacking talent in spades.
Carey was a phenomenon.

Depends on how Dustin Fletcher would be used. IF he was to be used as a backman, go to hell, Carey any day, on the other hand, if he was to be used as a CHF i would say fletch, massive kick, would win the coleman year in year out

Yes he has a big kick but no where near as good for goals as carey
