What about that Brownjohn bloke for Murrumbeena? Hampton Hammer rates him highly

It would probaly be hard to go past Casset in Div 1, but now he has Competition with Dimachki maybe someone can sneak past him!!
Its hard to tell in Div 3
Maybe Coates from dandy, or One of the many forwards at Black Rock

Madman you are too modest. Divvy 3 you would have to be a shoe in nearly.
Don't be shy. You loved it last year..
Are we going to see you running around again tonight?

Hopefully, I'll see how the ankle feels after work today.
I think Div 3 goal kicking is wide open, there are qaulity players all over but I think the only Shoe in would be Simon Horner from cerberus, The rumour is that he is playing!!

Is Newman a certainty for Oakleigh this year? Doubt he would knock back a contract from the VCA to play football.
Brownjohn is a good player but not in the same class as the other three. Caples finished second last year on one leg and the other two are players who have performed at a greater standard than ours.

Div 1: Cassett (StK City) or Ridgway (St Pauls)
Div 2: McKenzie (Oak Dist) or Williams (Springy Dist)

Brownjohn is a handy footballer but wouldn't kick more than 50 goals in a top 4 side I would have thought. At Murrumbeena last season he finished with 31 which is good going but not a spearhead so to speak.
Caples is getting on now and will need better delivery than he had last season to get back up the top of the goal kicking list. Quinn will be hard to stop (as I found personally last season, great delivery to him too) and I don't know much about Williams?
Beshara if uninjured will push for 50 odd for us this season.

who was your leading goalkicker last year hammer?? he is a big unit simon beshara, pretty handy with the willow isnt he??
It was tied between assistant coach Chris Barr (who missed 8 or so games with a neck injury) and Mick Cogger. They both kisked about 25 or so goals for the season. As for "Ox" Beshara, he is playing coach of Ormond with cricket and apparently goes well. With the help of a fitness adviser there this year he has dropped a few kgs and is fitter than he has been in the past.

I'd be stoked to get 78 kicks this year let alone goals!!!
I just wonder if Casset will kick 100 goals with Dimachki in the team?? I can see them kicking about 80 each and having a massive percentage this year!!
I wonder if Kirkland can step up for the bloods this year?? I hope so I like the bloods, Id say I barrack for them in Div 1 and Moorrabbin in Div 2!!

Might be bit hard if he's paying off half back... which, as I've heard, is where he played most of last year, and had an absolute blinder.
In the earlier parts of his career, he was very dangerous around goal and did find them quite a lot, but has taken his footy to a new level as a half back.
Will be interesting to see where Muzza, Ray, Whiskas and COREY put him.

would still kick a lot from back there because he is prepared to run but obviously not enough to win the goalkicking. where are they looking at playing corey? back/forward?
MadMan V1.2

Yeah Cat where are we looking to play corey??
I was very keen to play Tim Barr out of a forward pocket, but now you tell me he is a half back flanker I might have to re-adjust??
You seem to be a very intelligent man Mr. Cat, looking forward to meeting you...

Corey...
Well there's no doubt he would be very much akin to CHB or FB, where he has played lot of footy (plus he can hold the back 6 together).
But then again, with his height and strength, could prove to quite a good focal point up at CHF - good accurate kick, presents well.
Although, you wouldn't rule out the fact that with a good pre-season under his belt and an increased fitness level, he may be of even more use on-ball where his experience could come to the fore.
I hope that helps you Madman.
Other than that, perhaps just ask him... he'll tell ya. He's short-on when it comes to confidence.

Corey Stephens (aka smasha or the brick with eyes) is a natural backman, i wouldnt bother trying him up forward, although will kick some goals he is more suited to the backline where he doesnt have to think a whole lot

I'd agree Cat - young Smasha is short on confidence!! Looking forward to catching 'the bus' down to watch Skye with you this year!!!!! :thumbsu:
PS. I see The Cat has a bit of a cult following on this forum!!

Interesting, I dont understand the "short on confidence" statement, if it means he is up himself then we must be talking about the wrong bloke?? But if it means he underestimates his own ability then your right there, because this bloke looks like a champion and trains like a superstar!!
I dont want to pump him up too much because its unecessary but all I am going to say is that I am really looking forward to getting on the battle-feild with this bloke this year!! His leadership qaulities are seriously second to none!!
What he has already brought to our team this year off the feild but on the training track is unbelievable, Discipline and respect for yourself and your team mates, this guy is a natural leader, will make an absolute champion senior coach in the near future!!

For Div 3 Chinga from Dandy will top the list if the supply is a plenty. Century goal kicker in most leagues he has played in. Especially if Coats doesnt play much.
Div 2, Quinn from Dingley
Div 1, Probably Casset as most clubs he plays for... and there has been many in 10 years... he has topped the goal kicking list

Scratcha, I think Chinga might add some value but not the leading goalkicker ?

Well to be honest... who will. There are no real standouts. Maybe someone we dont even know will stand up and kick plenty! We have a bloke back who will trouble full backs. Think he averaged 6 or 7 a game last time he played! but If the supply is not good, who knows!

Phil Smith will be right up there if he stays fit.
no one will beat him one on one, the new rule will work for him and in 3 games last year kicked 27 goals inc. a bag of 10 against clayton

don't forget about Mark Tasyan... could be the quiet deadly man, if he's playing again anyways lol
i am backing dingley's quinney.
he has kicked 10 and 13 in his last two outings.
the dingley ground has plenty of space in the forward line.

Saw Sheedy yesterday, you might have some competition Madman, he's on 12 from two games and looked pretty good at full forward. Still, you must be happy with 7 first up?

Yeah I'll put my money on Sheedy also. Even though I reckon Baker from Cantebury might go well as well as great early season form from Kirkup from Mount.
But Sheedy's got to be odds on, I dont think there is anyone bar Holroyd who will take goals off him, Kreskas has a big job supplying him all year though!!
