According to the My Man Thread (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291068), it looks like illino and rumblah will be the ones responsible for looking after B2 (or is it B1? :p) for us this season.
Take it away, guys!

About
Tall forward who leads quickly, has excellent hands and accurate kick at goal. All-Australian at U18 level this year and graduate of the AIS/AFL Academy in 2004. TAC Cup Team of the Year in 2005 and third in Chargers Best and Fairest. Reads ball well through the air and has a real passion for the game. Showed good speed (5m - 1.05sec, Top 17%) and endurance (3km - 11mins - Top 21%) at NAB AFL Draft Camp. Recent accident will curtail his pre-season progress but expected to make a full recovery. From Noble Park FC.
Here's hoping for a promising and injury-free game from the youngster today. Any radio stations broadcasting the game today?

Hope so. It will help if he has a good one tonight!
BTW - Good taste in music mate, try 'Bullet for my Valentine'. Debut cd called 'The Poison'. Easily best band of 2006 (end off-topic rant)!

After looking at Boyle again, i think he may be alright for a while to come. How will Dowls crack a game?

He's now 196cm and 90kg, so he needs another 6 to 8 kg to hold his contested positioning. Only turns 20 this coming Dec., but the challenge to him has already been set by the form of both Gilham and Boyle. Josh Th. has had to run the gauntlet of de-listing, and has survived so far, and I think the elevation of Josh to "emergency" for today's game against the rooboys is a testament to how hard he has re-applied himself to his game. Rob Walls has said over the weekend that the average lifespan of an AFL footballer's career is 3 years, that being the case Beau needs to make every post a winner. He has to at least impact VFL games, crash packs similar to how Jeremy Dukes does for Port, and compete legitimately with Roughy for that first elevation possibility back to Hawthorn. Skinny and as injury prone that he might be, I believe that the AC-brainstrust have got it right by nominating Josh Thurgood over either of them at the moment.

Sometimes i worry about Dowler. He didn't really show any glimpses in his 2 games last year. Although i guess it's only 2 games after all.

^ There was a topic recently posted that got exclusive word that Dowler is still having problems with his pelvis and still lacks confidence with it. So maybe this could be the problem?
At the moment I would be happy to stay the majority of the year at Box hill, I am fine with it.

I thought he presented well and generally did well last week before being injured. Was able to take a lot out of that performance.

Looks like he has all the attributes of a good player. Height Weight Speed but I think he lacks a little in mentality. He believes he has made it but we all know he is not there yet at all unless he steps up.

Well, thought Id share a few of My Mans stats for last weeks game (Rd 17). It was Dowlers 3rd senior game and easily his best.
Getting the bad out of the way first, Beau did give away 3 free kicks and kicked 2 out on the full. Now to me, this sort of thing is to be expected from a 3rd gamer, especially because its his first game this year, but the positives that he showed were enough to warrant his position in the side and indeed, why he isnt a wasted top ten draft pick.
A great smother followed up by a tackle added to his 2 Goals and 8 disposals, a game in which the forward also managed 5 marks.
Keep in mind Dowler was playing on the Roos 2nd/3rd best tall defender that night - With Buddy, Boyle, Roughy, and perhaps Willo to take the best defenders normally, this gives Dowler and Thorpe massive opportunities to take on 4th and 5th best defenders.
All things right for Sammy, Buddy and Thorpe to return this weekend - Beau will probably be dropped as he would be sitting behind Thorpe right now, and with Big Boyler and Little Willo still to return, dont be surprised if we dont see much of Beau untill 08/9.

I think Beau was good and if he actually converted those 2 out on the full, it would have been a whole different story to most the fans. I think he deserves to be retained, and Dicko to be dropped for Boyle, with Thorp waiting in the wings.

how many games do people believe beau should be playing next year? i would love to see him play 10+ games, however i believe if he were to play this many it would be as a result of poor performances and therefore a lower ladder position! i hope like hell he can cement a position ahead of boyle as i think he will be a more important play in 5 years time! we all know that with a solid pre season he has it in him to be a top line player. hopefully he can play 5 games at least and kick a bag of goals in at least one of them

More 6 games is a pass mark for BD. But I cannot see where he will play in the ones and who he will replace. Dominating at BHH level is an absolute must.

Im a bit up in the air if he will make it. Pre-Car Accident I would have most certainly said yes. He was a dynamite CHF for the Chargers. Not certain what his position would be, but he did play a few promising games in the backline for BH

he's a forward pure and simple, dont worry about if he'll make it, the kids a star. although hes been around a few years hes still only 19 and just growing into his body. he has found it a little tough at boxhill due to his body size and much bigger defenders that started to change towards the end of last year, with what i thought was a breakout game at boxhill against Coburg, he then followed it up with a big bag at Frankston.
Hes had a big preseason so far, and his arm is showing the signs. Hes turning into a big unit!

I think Beau will suprise a few people this season. Will get a few games during the year (in the forward line) and he will do well. Pencil in round 22 against Carlton at TD and he will smash them. Don't know why but just have a feeling.

I actually have this feeling that he will play most of the season... with a few out at the start of the season he will play early, and might make it damn hard to drop him.

1) Beau Dowler. B1 had just finished training and was talking to a gent, saw me, came over & we shook hands wishing each a happy new year (lovely young man is Beau D :thumbsu:) Had a quick chat about his knee injury. He has been off the track for 3/4 weeks now since the injury. Only now starting back full training. The area just below his left knee is still bruised and slightly swollen! The good news is available.
Report from RustyHawk.

The players where in groups of 2. Beau Dowler worked with Mitch Thorp.
1 would stand on the mark while the other kicked for goal. Players would alternate around the 50m arc usually kicking from around the 35-45m area. Golf, once the player has kicked the ball and the result known, he would mark the result off on a plastic green card, 4! (Just like as in Golf) [Players had to write down the results of at least 20 kicks for goal and show the teacher before they left the ground - first time this has been introduced]
Oh, how did Beau Dowler go? Score 16 goals out of 20. Kicked the first 10 straight and then shanked the next 3!

More seriously, it was low key today. B1 is now 6'4" in the old money. He said he has grown over the summer, his is over his pelvic injury, and is doing extra sessions each week. He gave the end of season trip the flick to stay back and put in the time in the gym.
If this kid makes it he deserves to. If he does'nt, then it will not be because he has not put his best into it. He is trying his best. Please remember that if you cyber spacers think about making comment on him.
Exactly my thoughts Number 24. Well posted!:thumbsu:

I am probably biased to Beau but I think he will play a fair few games this year. Kicked a few goals at box hill and has shown some class. Pushing for selection. Could play atleast 12 I think.

I haven't heard anything of Beau in the last two weeks.

Beau Dowler is Ready!!
To those of you that had questions, or havent been reading the Box Hill v Tazzie game on the weekend, one thing is certain.
Beau Dowler is ready!
He has filled out, leads well, has strong hands and should of kicked 6-7 goals on the weekend. He stood way above Mitch Thorp and anybody else as a fear factor for the opposition players, and just had that presence that a KPP should have.
If Tim Boyle dosen't get up, its Dowler that comes in not Willo(hope he's not pissing himself over this:D) that is immediately ready to come in to The Hawthorn Forward machine!!:thumbsu:

Anyone know what's going on with Beau now? Not listed on Hawks injury list but I haven't sighted him in the VFL or VFL Reserves stats for BHH...
I'm a fan of him from his junior days, was actually hoping to see him in red and black post his junior days - was really glad someone took him so early despite the unlucky car accident.

Dowler: Good when he had it, great hands, needs to demand/hunt the ball a lot more though. The sort on player who might languish at VFL level forever, but might step up if played at AFL level, thinking Morton here. from Tasmaniac.
I watched the game also. Dowler moved around the ground and DID look good. Strong mark and has a good kick. I think he might need a call up.
