According to the My Man Thread (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291068), it looks like Gilham4P.M will be one of the posters responsible for looking after Little for us this season.

Take it away, Gilham!

Matthew Little:

Jumper No: 28
Height: 187
Weight: 74
DOB: 1986-01-03
Recruited From: Calder Cannons

Played at Full Forward for Calder in TAC Cup where he showed much promise. Has a good set of hands and was a consistent performer last year for Box Hill. Will debut at some stage this year and appears to only be being held back by Williams and Dixon who play a similar style and role.

Is James Hirds cousins so there is some good blood running through his veins. Hopefully this year will be the year "My Man" is able to step and secure a spot in the team for years to come.

Good Luck Matty "My Man" Little

.... how the young kid is going.

Other than a bit of a quiet game last week i have heard and witnessed little going pretty well. Has been moved into the midfield at times during recent weeks which perhaps is the reason why he hasn't kicked as many goals. From the looks of things he is simply adding another string to his bow which will see him line up in the prestegious brown and gold.

Perhpas maybe sometime at half back may be of benefit to him. There wouldn't be many blokes at half forward that could outmark him, his skills are terrifc and his run and footy brain could make it an easy transition. Perhaps he could be the next luke hodge taking up the quarter back role from half back, freeing up hodge to remain in the midfield and start increasing his all important supercoach points. I recall watching a video of Little in an u19 grand final some time ago in which he amassed some 43 touches 20 marks and kicked 3 goals, from half back, if he could produce a 1/3 of that for Hawthorn from that postion he would become an extremely valuable member of the team.

another good game against werribee this week for little. Four goals, numerous amount of assists and in the best should surely put his name at the top of the list for a senior game. Obviously with the senior team flying at the moment it is difficult to drop anyone but an injury or two should get him a game a surely. No doubt should be kept on the list next year, will be an extremely valuable replacement for dixon and a forward line that consists of williams, little, frankiln, boyle would be very formidable.

Roughie would easily be ahead of little and the way Thorp is progressing he may well be too. Personally i think this may be his last year with us

News
The Hawthorn Football Club has announced the delisting of Matt Little and Josh Thurgood from their senior list.

Little and Thurgood join retirees Ben Dixon, Joel Smith and retiring captain Richie Vandenberg on exiting the Club.

Matt Little played in one senior game for the Hawks in round 16 of the 2007 season and despite performing well at VFL level for the Box Hill Hawks was unable to maintain a spot in Alastair Clarkson’s senior Hawthorn side. Little was leading goal kicker for the Hawks’ VFL affiliate club, kicking 35 goals in 17 games.

Josh Thurgood also performed admirably for the Box Hill Hawks and was amongst their better players in 2007, coming third in their Club Champion award. Thurgood had been given a second chance by the Hawthorn coaching staff in 2007, having been delisted the previous session, but picked up again in the AFL pre-season draft.

The Club has not yet made a decision regarding its Rookie listed players and is likely to finalise their position before the end of the month.

Has signed with Williamstown.

Former Hawk becomes a Seagull

Williamstown has added another piece to its forward line for 2008 with the signing of former Hawthorn player Matthew Little.

Matthew Little was drafted to Hawthorn in the 2004 National Draft at pick 26 after showing much promise as a Full Forward for the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup. He was a dominant goalkicker at TAC Cup level in 2004 and followed this form to VFL level last year where he was leading goal kicker for the Box Hill, kicking 35 goals in 17 games.

Matthew played 1 game of AFL in his time at Hawthorn, playing in Round 16 2007 vs St Kilda, he had 6 disposals for the match.

Matthew is James Hirds cousin so there is some good blood running through his veins. We are delighted to have him at Williamstown for 2008 and add him to our off-season recruits of Jason Cloke, Ben Jolley, Dean Galea and our existing player group.

Damn he must get sick of "James Hird's cousin" being thrown in to every article about him.

... then again, it appears that every aboriginal AFL footballer is in some way related to a Rioli, a Long or a Krakouer.
