Where do you guys see us sitting after the first 5 rounds?
Brisbane (away)
Dees (home)
Kangaroos (away)
Cats (home)
Dogs (home)
We could be 0-5 but also could be 5-0!!
I personally think we'll win 2. Kangaroos, Cats.

I think we can beat the dees too.
But yeah, Brisbane and the Bulldogs trouble me - they destroyed us last year.

Really hard to pick before the first bounce of the ball...
On one hand 3 of our opponents finished outside the eight last year. On the other hand, if it wasn't for our last 4 games all 5 opponents would have finished above us.
All 5 teams would be looking to improve this year. Brisbane is always hard to beat up there.
I think anything better than a 50/50 result, ie: 3 wins, would be fantastic. Less than 2 wins would be disappointing.

I guess the first game is crucial.
Win that and we'll go into round 2 with loads of confidence...lose it however and depending on how badly, round 2 is huge even at this early stage!

Brisbane vs Hawthorn
Hawthorn vs Melbourne
Kangaroos vs Hawthorn
Hawthorn vs Geelong
Hawthorn vs Bulldogs
Call me unrealistic but I belive we have winnable (at least 50/50 games) up to round 4. After the clash against the Scum in round 6, it gets much more difficult however...
BTW, I'm tipping us to win 11 games this season.

2-3 ...
Brisbane and Cats pencil them in. The Dogs, Dees and Roos are 50/50's.
Like others have said, could easily win them all, or lose them all.
At this stage i think we will beat Kangaroos. 50/50 Brisbane/Lions/Cats. Unlikely to beat the Dogs...

With Croad, Osbourne, Jacobs, Smith and alike still coming back from injury, I think we'll have a shocking start to the season - but will pick it up very well around the Round 8-10 mark.
1-4
Will beat Geelong.
Please prove me wrong, Hawks.

I think you are right on the first 4 games.
I think AC decisions on the picked players and placement of players (match-ups) could be the decider.
I have always supported AC appointment and his direction for the club, but sometimes his coaching on game day makes me wonder,

It's hard making predictions so early. Who would have thought we would beat Geelong or Fremantle early last year? but we did. We also however lost to the Kangaroos. I think that we are at a stage now when we should expect to beat the bottom 4 sides rather than be one of them. Brisbane and Kangaroos were both bottom 4 last year so i think that if this year panns out like it did last, we should win both those games.
1-4
Unless Clarkson has played silly buggers in the NAB cup our current structure and game plan look like a joke.

Round 1 Brisbane
I think that we are a good chance against brisbane, we should have beaten them last year up there at the end of the season but we ran out of legs. However Jon Brown was out and it took him about 5 minutes to destroy us and win the game at carrara. That 1st quarter was the best quarter of footy ive ever seen from any player, the game was finished before the first break. So if JB is having a relatively quite one i think we can win this one. They are on the up but i think we are a little bit more ahead of them in most areas.
Round 2 Melbourne
We are a little bit of a boggy team for the dees and tend to beat them even when we are on the bottom of the ladder and they are in the top 8. We beat them in 2004 in round 1 and we know how that season panned out. We also beat them by a fair margin in 2005 when willo kicked 8. I also think that Daniher will want his charges firing at the pointy end of the season this year not like whats happened to the dees in the last 3 years, limped into the finals and havent made much impact. Remember last year they lost their first 3 games and one of those was against carlton. I think melbourne may give the premiership and decent push this year, last chance with an aging list, but i am glad that we are playing them early. Melbourne are a better team than us at the moment, no doubt, but I think if we beat brisbane and our confidence is up we are a 50/50 chance, but too hard to pick on preseason form alone. Just hope they are still a little under done.
Round 3 Kangaroos
Should win, they are my tip for the spoon. If we play 70% upto our potential we should win
Round 4 Geelong
Unknown at the moment i think, we beat them twice last year but round 22 only the hawks turned up to play. The game is in tassie which should be an advantage for us. I think we are also a good chance in this game but Geelong may have a strong resolve to make amends for a dismal 2006.
Round 5 Bulldogs
I think bulldogs should beat us here, hopefully we put in a show like we did last year we played them. Will be interesting to see if we can match their running game. Even if we dont win we can take a lot out of this game if we can put up a fight.
Overall I think that we will be anywhere from 2-3 to 4-1 lets hope for the latter!

I would be extremely disappointed if we didn't win at least 2 out of 5. Would be very happy with 3 wins out of the first 5 games though.

we give a flying because the probability of where you finish at the end of the season is conditional on what our win/loss record is at the end of round 5 they arent mutually exclusive

I thought big Bob played well on Brown at Carrara, when he was finally given the job.
If Brown starts kicking a few early, I would put Bob back on him.
Renouf would be a handy extra in the team for the Brissy game.
I hope the X MAN and Muston are our winning wild cards.
Of coarse game one is all on my mind at the moment.
I hope the NAB grandfinal is a unduly physical game, with many names taken by the umpires.
It sounds bad, but you must understand how long we wait for a Hawks win at the Gabba.
