Hey guys,
I need advice. Im having a $100 bet with my old man (collingwood supporter) that Carlton will finish above them this year. Is it worth taking on?
Cheers.

I'd say yes.
Don't underestimate them losing Tarrant,Rusling & doubt over Didak.

can I get some of that bet? That's daft of your old man. The lop sided draw aside they haven't got much going for them this year I wouldn't have thought.

How on earth did you manage to get away? Didn't he try to raise you a Collingwood boy??

You are an absolute moral to win this bet.
I'm not just saying this because I am a Carlton supporter.
Collingwood have the worst list in the AFL in terms of depth and young talent, and Pendlebury aside (who is an absolute gun), their midfield is painfully old and slow. (Maybe Heath Shaw will be released to play midfield a bit more this year, who is also an absolute gun).
The injury to Rusling is a big blow, and although I really liked the look of Ben Reid in the practice match against St Kilda (rangy, excellent hands), I don't think he'll be mature enough to provide the third tall option that Collingwood desperately need.
Carlton will DEFINITELY finish above Collingwood. The backline looks stronger if still not a tad unpredictable (Waite, Irish), we have a wide range of forward options (Fisher, Kennedy, Lance, Betts) including the premier FF, and excellent young talent in the middle and down the wings.
TAKE THIS BET!!
I wish I could get a piece of the action...:(

Share the love and call the club, I think they might want to get on. I'm pretty sure Eddie bets.

Brodie Holland still to serve 5-6 match suspension, doubts over whether Bucks' body will explode the first time he tackles somebody (too much power leading to catastrophic failure of all muscle simultaneoulsy);)
Take his money along with Roos and Dons fans.

You know what? I still hate Brodie Holland for the way he used to treat Camporeale. Dirty dirty dirty.

Best thing I've ever seen Banno do was punch Brodie last year. Normally I don't advocate violence, but he never even saw the puch despite the fact it came at him from the front. Next time you want to rabbit puch someone Brodie, make sure he's not a champion boxer.........was a tosser.

Actually I am having a bet with a Carlton supporter, he is certain you guys beat as once last year. Did we play you preseason.

Done and done. ;)

Tried. Then threw me out on the street on several occations. Typical one-eyed supporter he is. Always whinging about the umpires and how the pies arent getting a fair go.
I'll gladly take his money :)
I wouldn't take the bet. I reckon Collingwood still have enough left in the tank, and we haven't quite got there yet.
Collingwood will slide this year, but how far, i'm not so sure. Losing Tarrant is going to be a bigger hole that most of them will admit to, and now Rusling going down means Fraser will almost have to play as a permanent forward to help out Rocca.
Their aging backline will be interesting, with Wakelin, Presti and Clement all 1 year older this year.
All in all, i'd take the bet. The only teams the Magpies beat last year were teams below them.
