View Full Version : Collingwood cheersquad booted out of Thursday's game
Fat Alfred
30 Mar 2002, 11:35
Just heard on 3AW that members from the Collingwood cheersquad were escorted out of the ground by Police during Thursday night's game. Apparantly there are 2 Collingwood
cheersquads after it was split down the middle from their constant vicious abuse of players & opposition supporters.
Rex Hunt said it was not even newsworthy, as he's come to expect that from them.
How much longer will these thugs be allowed into the grounds to ruin matches for families?
Was in the herald sun, page 9 as well. Wonder if any of those morons post in here?

Maybe Rex Hunt said it wasn't newsworthy because it is absolute bullshlt.
There was only 1 Collingwood supporter evicted on thursday night, this person was not a member of the Official Collingwood Cheer Squad.
There is absolutely no friction between the Official or Unofficial Collingwood Cheer Squads.
This bullshlt was started purely by shltstirers who just want to see the Official Collingwood Cheer Squad disintigrate. People like you Fat Alfred/TheButcher/TwiggyDunn.

Because some people choose not to sit in the Official Collingwood Cheer Squad because they a) don't want to have the responsibilties associated with sitting in the Cheer Squad; b) they want to be in a group enviroment at the football to be able to sing, chant or whatever without having to wave flags and floggers; c) The Official Cheer Squad do not allow alcohol to be consumed, as it is family oriented. Some people enjoy a drink or two at the football; d) having Cheer Squads at either end of the MCG at Collingwood home matches has twice the impact.
Personally I respect these people very much. I think you'll find many of them are infact paid up Official Cheer Squad members, but they just don't wish to sit with the Official Cheer Squad. Having two Cheer Squads is NOT a result of friction amongst Collingwood supporters.

The members of the Unofficial Cheer Squad joined the Official Cheer Squad because of the Club wanting to reinvigorate the Official Cheer Squad was one of the worst in the league before this happened. IT IS NOT THE RESULT OF FRICTION BETWEEN THE CHEER SQUADS. GET THIS INTO YOUR THINK HEAD.

Having just read the article, and seen the photos associated with it, I have realised why I have absolutely zilch respect for the crap that is the picture book (Herald Sun). If this story is so true and so important why isn't it in a respected newspaper such as The Age or The Australian? Typical picture book beat up of absolutely nothing is totally unprofessional yet im not at all surprised. I've come to expect this kind of crap from this useless waste of paper.

Someone was definitely evicted from amongst the Collingwood Cheersquad at the city end on Thursday night. I was sitting 30m away. Whether they were associated with the cheersquad or not I couldn't tell. Tends to suggest there is some truth to the media reports.

Another thing. Matthew Richardson aka Donkey Nancy-Boy incited the crowd himself, made blatantly obvious by the photos in the picture book. If he points to the scoreboard in front of a huge pack of Collingwood supporters, what reaction would you expect? I'm sure that if it was a Collingwood player doing this in front of a bunch of say West Coast supports at Subiaco I'd expect the same reaction from them.

And don't you just love the way they match the pictures with the headlines.
Headline says: "Hecklers abuse own cheer squad"
The pictures shows hecklers ... sure enough ... and who are they heckling?
Yellow No.12 Prickardson.
Obviously the Herald Slime was there because they expected trouble ... when nothing happened they had to manufacture it.

Every player from every club get abused by supporters of every club in every sport in every country at some point in their careers. The way Donkey Nancy-Boy Richardson reacted suggests he is an unprofessional cretin. Only Damien Hardwick reacts in that manner.

Refer to a previous post on the subject.
It is the players responsibility to be focused on the game at hand and not allow the crowd to get to them.

Dr Alfred I have forwarded copies of your posts to Collingwood President Eddie McGuire who I am now on a first name basis with
After chatting to him at length about some Collingwood supporters giving the Magpies a bad name he said is fed up to the nines with a few THUGS giving Collingwood a bad name in public forums like this.
Very disappointing that you take the stance you do. Collingwood people should be united not abusive like you have been. I say it again - GROW UP!

Tends to suggest nothing, you gullible fool ...
He was one of the unofficial cheer squad people ... I noticed him getting pretty worked up over some of the umpiring. I don't know what he got evicted for ... but it certainly wasn't for abusing the official Cheer Squad.
What ususally happens in these situations is that someone gets upset over umpiring and starts to mouth off about it ... Security or the Police tell them to shut up ... they tell Security or the Police to **** off ... and next thing you know everyone is singing "You're going home in the back of a divvy van" ... Although, on this occasion I don't actually think anyone in the Cheer Squad area sang the "divvy van" song because this guy was a good friend of members of both the official and unofficial Cheer Squads.
The real story ... the one that should have been reported ... was something like : "COLLINGWOOD FANS HECKLE UMPIRES AND OPPOSITION PLAYERS."
That wouldn't have been news, now, would it?
But that is ALL that happened.

Wow, one newspaper report and EVERYTHING IS COLLINGWOOD. Open your eyes young man. Wasn't it Eric Cantona who jumped the fence and bashed a Crystal Palace fan in England? Wasn't a Carlton player reported for inciting the crowd in the Harry Potter Cup against Geelong? in what ways does this have anything to do with Collingwood FC? Or haven't I realised just how powerful Collingwood FC is?

75% of the time that someone gets kicked out of the cheersquad area is because they are not cheersquad members and are breaking AFL rules by drinking there, and making extremely obscene gestures towards some of the opposition players and its the cheersquad members who actually get security to kick them out, and it happens every week.
It happens to every team, not just collingwood, and it only gets publicised when its collingwood because for some strange reason people enjoy making up bull**** to try and make collingwood look bad.

I don't barrack for Collingwood, and don't know anything about official and breakaway cheer squads at Collingwood, and don't really care, but this looks like a complete non-issue to me. A drunken spectator behind the goals had a bit too much to drink, started to get aggressive and got kicked out. Big deal, happens every game.

That is right Bomber Spirit and also Vanders.
In my book, it doesnt matter if it is a Collingwood supporter or a supporter of any other team, anyone drunk at the football needs to be ejected end of story.
The football is or at elast should be able to be attended by families, it is not a place to go to get drunk.
This boorish behaviour should not be tolerated.

yes i was there..
and if people are saying the person ejected was not a cheer squad member they are just covering up and sweeping this the trouble under the carpet..
That newspaper article in the Herald Sun was a joke and just full of utter garbage. There is no Anti "Cheersquad". Secondly most of the people in the Outer Cheersquad and Official Cheersquad get along great and most of us meet up at the pubs before and after the game and have a great time.
May i ask who Michael Warner is ? Has he written many articles before or has he gone for glory first up ?
There is no way a dozen people form the Outer Cheersquad were evicted. There was one person who was evicted, another person left by choice and stood up the back.
So what if we were vocal at Matthew Richardson ? It was all in good fun and Richardson simply pointed at the scoreboard. As for complaining about our language what a joke that is. Any of the language is nothing that is not on tv or part of every day life. Im sure if the players were miked up the language would be ten times worse.
I sit with the Outer Cheersquad and im proud. If people want to post crap on here and write articles i the newspaper which have no factual truth then thats fine. I guess the Herald Sun must have been desperate for a newsstory.

Thank you DrAlfie and Daicos4Ever for proving my point...all your arguments are without merit..you have no come back
you cannot DENY that Kerry Baptist who is an OFFICIAL Collingwood Cheer Squad LEADER carries a lot more weight that you drop kicks!
If she said it happened in the paper then it gives the paper credibility because she is from Collingwood
she has shown you and your mates as thugs and unworthy Collingwood people..you are an embarresment to the Club.
Your responses have been sent to Eddie at the club.

You know it really is sad that these no-brainers would spend so much time abusing opposition teams players...
Are they really so bored with their own team??
I feel sorry for the majority of Pie supporters who go to actually cheer on their team....a foreign concept to some people obviously!!
Idiots who spend all their time abusing opposition teams really are the lowest kind of supporter...

Football is a broad church and there should be tolerance and if necessary separate areas for supporters who want to drink beer, abuse other supporters, abuse other teams, abuse other players and also for the family audience.
There is actually room for all of these things if people are sensible. Obviously some things - physicall intimidation/violence and racism for example - are unacceptable and should be stamped out.
This sounds like a non-story to me.

You foolish little boy Butcher, there is no Anti Cheersquad so more fool you. There are only two Cheersqauds an Outer Cheersquad and the Official Cheersquad and both get along great. I find it very amusing to see everyone giving their opinion when they wouldnt have a clue about what the real situation is.

Alf Andrews is a first class sook. Go on and don't show up at the next match, you are not needed.
You and your communist mates/sheep are ruining the reputation of the Collingwood Football Club. Behave or get out.
Why can't you fools all act like the Collingwood Cheer squad did in 1990 when there was harmony, cohession and no threats to other members of the public.

So JLC are you another one of the bright sparks who is saying that Kerry Baptist quote Leader of the OFFICIAL cheer squad unquote is a liar for what she has said ? Yes the outter cheer squad is the Anti Cheer Squad according to Kerry
no she is not a liar..and she is a lot more credible than you or the goons like Alf who lie and twist things to get your own way and make trouble for the general public and good natured Collingwood supporter!
I agree with Rohan these people are not wanted by Collingwood
They only SHAME the club!
So please tell me JLC all that Kerry said - she made that up? she only said it to bring the club down?
Answers please? or will you cop out like Dr Alf has done all the way along - cos yes the finger is pointed at him and his goon mates who are trouble makers for the club.

I must say that I've stayed out of this so far because i hate kiking a team and its supporters when they are down, but out of pure boredom I wandered over to another site and have had an absolute blast reading Dr. Alf bleating about how upset he is that, once again, Richmond has made absolute fools out of beloved girls.
I tell ya, there wasn't a dry seat in the house as I read how he admitted that yes, the Maggie fans were INTIMIDATED by the Tiger army - that they've felt a "cultural cringe" in regards the Tiger Army. *LOL*
That gave me more "stimulation" than any porn site on the net, let me tell ya!
And then, as the equivalent to a post-coitus cigarette, I had the pleasure to read the viscious inter-cheersquad infighting posts.
Ah Bliss!
But it is nice to know there is SOME passion being dispalyed at the Collingwood Football Club. Pity much of it aint happening on the field.

Man, the Tiger Army will be laughing now. Then again I doubt it, as the Collingwood Cheer Squad ceased being a genuine threat years ago. Perhaps I can have a word ith some pallies in the Army and they can come on over and give you guys a bit of a talk on the meaning of loyalty, spirit and soul.
I like Collingwood, I really do and that is my offer to you, to help you through these uncertain, trying times.

You're a liar, comrade. I didn't say anything of the kind.
I tell ya, there wasn't a dry seat in the house as I read how he admitted that yes, the Maggie fans were INTIMIDATED by the Tiger army - that they've felt a "cultural cringe" in regards the Tiger Army. *LOL*
What I actually said was that the "cultural cringe" is OVER. I was responding to some one who had suggested that the Cheer Squad should not do a particular chant because the so-called "Tiger Army" does an allegedly better version thereof. Over recent years Collingwood supporters have gone into their shell a bit against Richmond. This certainly didn't happen on Thursday ... at least not at the Ponsford End. The "cultural cringe" is over.
That gave me more "stimulation" than any porn site on the net, let me tell ya!
Well ... I'm glad you got your jollies, comrade. Maybe we should start a 0055 sevice.
And then, as the equivalent to a post-coitus cigarette, I had the pleasure to read the viscious inter-cheersquad infighting posts.
Ah Bliss!
So, where are these "vicious inter-cheersquad infighting posts"? ... I'll answer that for you ... In your sordid little imagination, comrade.
The trouble came from a handful of saboteurs. One of them, a known troublemaker called CQ who has personal issues with Joffa and myself. Another one was our very own well-loved Rohan Dyer ... the great grandson of Captain Bollocks ... He is not a member of any cheer squad. He is simply a knocker ... pure and simple. And another fellow called Magpie Greg who fell victim to "shoot the messenger" syndrome when he posted the text of the Herald Sun article.
... Man, the Tiger Army will be laughing now ...
The Yellow Army can please itself.
Then again I doubt it, as the Collingwood Cheer Squad ceased being a genuine threat years ago.
So, why did the Herald Sun feel the need to do a hatchet job on us last Saturday.
Perhaps I can have a word ith some pallies in the Army and they can come on over and give you guys a bit of a talk on the meaning of loyalty, spirit and soul.
Don't bother ... We'd laugh in their faces. They've got nothing to teach us. They are yesterday's people.
I like Collingwood, I really do and that is my offer to you, to help you through these uncertain, trying times.
I love you too, comrade ... but don't piss in my pocket. And you probably won't like Collingwood much after we beat you in the Preliminary final on the way to our Premiership.

Now Alfie, don't go getting snarky at me old son.
Y'see I pretty much avoided these threads as news about Collingwood supporters is of about as much interest as the contents of my kelpie's diahorrea. And, considering her latest bout of illness, they are displaying the same amount of consistency. The stench, too, is about as equal.
The reason I bothered getting into this fray was due to your disrespectful and nasty remark about Jack Dyer. To call this legend of a player and a man "Captain Bollocks" was, as they say, the most final of straws. I can understand you hating the man but never, ever, disrespect him. For here lies the difference between the Carringbush rabble and the followers of other clubs - we can acknowledge the genuine legends of other teams. In doing so it can also display that we are mature and clear-headed enough to see the flaws within our own side, both on and off the field. In simpler terms, I hated every goal Gorden Coventry kicked against the Tiges, yet I can still (and I admit grudgingly) admire and nod to a man that was a legend of his team and the game. He may have been "Nuts" but I would never refer to him as "Bollocks". (Hmmm....perhaps that was a poor example).
Anyhow, I am sad to see you are leaving us and running from what promised to be a fun bit of biffo. Now generally when I see a maggie flailing about and making a fool of himself, I only ignore it. Yep, most of your lot are akin to a blowfly making a tremendous racket as it smahes its puny little head into my window pane. Generally, a few days later you'll find its pathetic corpse lying on the sill and with a flick of the finger it is on the floor, awaiting the vacuum cleaner. but sometimes, and these occasions are very rare, I feel the boredom induced inclination to thwack the poor, misguided creature with a rolled up copy of the form guide. Today Alf, it was you.
But it looks like you've found the open part of the window and decided to buzz off back to other boards where argument does not exist and where you can happily dish it out without any fear of having to take it....and play the matyr while you are at it. Floreat PIKER indeed.
And yes Alf I was not "pissing in your pocket" when I said I liked Collingwood. How could I not have a soft spot for a team that virtually guarantees us 4 premiership points everytime we play them? Hell, they are like the cheap scrubber from the seediest of pubs that is always available for a good rogering. You may not respect her, but hey, you have to LIKE her. What's it been now? of the last 11 times we've met her at the bar, only twice she's knocked us back. Sure, she aint too good looking, her best days are behind her and she reeks of cheap beer and old ciggies. But hey, we are guaranteed a good time. And almost always she takes it and likes it.
So cheers Alfie and have a good one.
