Jesse Smith is currently back into full training after having a few setbacks with his troublesome ankle. His ankle which he injured this time last year has not healed fully. Approximately a month ago he had a cleanout of the ankle to allow it to heal 100%. Since then in the last couple of weeks he has resumed full training and is set to make his return this weekend for VFL affiliate north ballarat.

AFL Website 2007 Kangaroos Preview

Jesse W. Smith - Had the worst possible start last year when his season was ruined after he injured his ankle in a pre-season NAB Challenge match. This year the Roos have great expectations for the son of former champ Ross Smith and are confident the midfield/defender will add to the six senior games he played in 2005.

Did he play VFL this weekend? How'd he go?

He did not play but it was not due to his ankle but due to the fact that no north players didn't play, it was only vfl listed players playing. He will no doubt line up this weekend.

Dream Team wise. A lot of people are picking him up for a reliable reserve defender.

Im interested to see how many games he will play this year?

Did he do well enough in the recent match against Sydney to hold his spot and do better than others like Riggio, Trotter etc have done in the past?
Or are their roles that different?

As long as he stays fit I'd say he'll be getting game time.

Not sold on Riggio or Trotter to date, but Jesse Smith has a strong future at this football club, and in my opinion will be a much better player than Riggio and Trotter as of right now.

I think Stevie Wonder said the same thing in his press conference last night. He also mentioned that JWS appeared more composed than Mozart!

I think that goes without saying as far as JWS's future. There's no doubting his talent and he appears to have the drive to make good on the promise shown. Trotter is borderline although seems to have finally realised in the last few weeks that his time is NOW. Riggio looked very promising early on, still way too early to call IMO. He's still very young in footballing terms.

Good summary on where the two are at - all three are fighting for the same spot.
Riggio was "underage" when drafted wasn't he?

It is clear JWS heads the list.

Yeah weve loaded up on even more half backs to release JW into the middle, no injuries to speak of.As far as dream team goes i'd imagine his value would rocket up this year considering how they like to jump on up and comers. Priddis, Murphy and JW will all be expensive this year.

I've heard in the Dreamteam thread that Jesse Smith is injured, is this a myth or a reality ??
