What if...

You were offered your dream job - at a football club other than Hawthorn.

Would you take it?

Yes, I definitely would. I have just done a Bachelor of Business (Sport and Leisure Management) and was looking everywhere for a job, including Hawthorn and the other AFL clubs. I have just secured a job, not in football, but I wouldn't have cared where I would have gone to - I still would have supported Hawthorn in any case!

Hell yeah, drug dealer at West Coast here I come!

But seriously I think having a recruitment role would be exciting. Getting paid to watch footbal games, analyze players and watch them develop in the senior ranks! It would be a make or break job which is weighed heavily on the type of coaching the player would get once drafted, but It would be an exciting job I believe.

To be honest, I think it would be better not to get a job at Hawthorn.

I think emotions can sometimes get in the way (just look at previous coaches and admin) and just because you love a club doesn't mean you should work for it. In all honesty, how many people love the organisations they're with? And if you loved it before you worked there, do you still love it?

That is a good point. I have worked for a sport that I absolutely loved. I still love the sport, but you get a different perspective of it. Plus you are surrounded by it the whole time that you run the risk of getting sick of it.
