Had a quick look at the fixture and there's little doubt we'll be the match of the round...with the Blues supporters peckers up, Im tipping 63,000+ which will easily trump the round. Credit to these two iconic clubs, beginning the season in hope and glory, in reality both have as much chance at this years flag as I do hopping into a jacuzzi with the Minogue sisters. Nonetheless, we dare to dream, so here's to the tigers in 2007.

Kylie's in town at present and her folks bought a place not far from me. It definitely has a spa. You never know...
Otherwise, a decent day should see 55K plus.

I'm still hoping for 70,000-80,000. As long as the soft cok supporters can handle it finishing at 7:40pm on a Sunday. Pffft. You will be in bed by 9pm for mummy to tuck you in

I would say West Coast v Sydney would be match of the round.

arguably hougs...Im simply using bums on seats as the barometer
If you weren't talking bums on seats then Melb vs STK & Cats vs Doggies will be awesome games IMO.

Don't get me started on re-runs!
All I can say is thank gof 7 have the footy 'cause if they were to serve up the same s*** as they did last night, I'd lose my nut.

In fairness the GF repeat probably takes pride of place in Round One given their recent encounters but in Victoria blues VS. Tigers will always be the tie of the round.
Historically I'd say only Blues VS. Pies and Tigers VS. Pies exceed it for intensity and bite and at the moment both clubs are genuinely hoping to push on and up. In originally predicted 57,000 but thinking on it - R1 at the "g" with Carlton at home coming off a NAB Cup and Tiger membership sales up on last year. Really despite the twilight game it should be 65,000 and will be disappointing if it isn't.

I agree that the match of the round should be the grand final replay. Given the news that Koutafides is out injured is making me more optomistic about winning round 1.

Is Kouta really that big of a blow really? The Carlton fans may think so i dont though.

Losing Kouta is not such a big blow at all.
Obviously we would love him to be out there, but he has come to the stage in his career where we don't rely on him as much any more as we used to.
Was only ever going to play off the bench, with short stints up forward and occassional stints in the middle.
We now have the depth to replace him adequately with players not yet as good as him, but talented youngsters.
So, whilst it's not ideal to see him injured and unable to play for a while, it certainly isn't such a big loss, and won't be the difference between a win and a loss.

perhaps it will make the difference between a 4 goal and 5 goal carlton loss?:thumbsu:

will cleve hughes play and will it be somewhere in the backline to me it makes no sence playing AA U18 CHF in the backline maybe its to develop a defensive side to his game something which he clearly showed was not evident last year

Reported on ch 9 news that fevola hurt his knee at training. Doesnt look like he's fully recovered from the strain last year and still looks a bit proppy.

in the very last mins of the NAB Final vs. Brisbane.
You can see Fevola rubbing his knee and getting up slowly - perhaps re-aggrivated it then.
Nice. Well not nice. I dont want another Daniel Bradshaw case but a week out due to knee soreness would suffice.

Definitely not match of the round. Blues Vs Geelong, Swans, Eagles, Footscray maybe, but not Tigers. Give yourselves a chance to prove yourselves, no need for all this pressure against the rampaging blues.
Win some silverware, then well talk.
