For crying out loud how much bad luck can one bloke have.:(

hope he makes it back .

His last year at Freo, it's bad "luck" maybe, but I don't think so many injuries to one person is luck. It's probably something about his body or something he does.

Heeeyyyyy good-bye. Won't play for us again.

This is a real shame. I thought last year when it happened first game back that he was a goner. But this pre-season I've allowed a little bit of hope back in. As much as it hurts, I reckon this could just about be the end of The Driller. :(

Damn, that sucks. He's had a rotten run with injuries, second in the league after Kosi in my books.

Hope he plays without any more mishaps this year...:thumbsu:

Atleast Kosi gets to play once in a while, The Driller has had one of the worst runs you could ever imagine.

It's only four to six weeks ffs. Give him a break. Not like he needs a reco. He's done a full preseason so he'll still be fit and spend some time in the WAFL.

Very negative attitude Memories. Browne hasn't played for a couple of years and now he is everyones favourite player.

According to seven news, yes it has.

Yes and if Browne injures himself very soon, I'd expect us to get rid of him too. There is no way you should keep players who have massive injuries (which stop them from playing 1/2th the games) at least once a season. Especially B grade players. Doesn't matter how much potential someone has if they can't stay fit. That's just the name of the game.

When he's fit and firing Haddrill's anything but a B grade player.

Coming from someone who knows Rob he said last year that he would give the game away if he suffered another serious knee injury again. Lets hope it's only minor otherwise he won't be pulling on the purple again sadly.

Browne will be percervered with if he did a serious injury at present, providing we could get a full preseason into him next year IMO. Should he play 5 good games then go down again, we would likely keep him as well. He has been on fire and just what we need.

Have you ever actually seen him play? Very tough to label Robbie Haddrill as a B grade player. He's awesome, and if fit he gives us more options and greater flexibility down back. Last I heard there was no major surgery required, and he's been set back a month. That makes things harder for him, but the season hasn't started and we're already missing players through suspension. Later in the year a spot may open up, and then he can take his chance, it isn't too late for The Driller.

He came 4th in the Doig. That would indicate that He is not that much of a dud.

He did manage to string together 46 in a row from round 1 2003 to round 1 2005.

Well yes, he can take his chance IF he comes back and is fit, you're right. Why waste this year if he can come back? My point is he will be gone, unless he comes back this year and strings games together and completely dominates. We don't need someone who can't play.

I think he was serviceable, but great? Who would want Haddril outside of Freo? Think ppl are lining up to take him?

If we had attempted to trade him at the end of 2004, I think a first round draft pick would have been expected.

The best that Sir Robert has to offer is very, very good. Possibly the only thing that stood between him and an AA guernsey were the cruel injuries. I remember in 2003 and 2004, when Scarlett and Michael were the premier full-backs and Haddrill and Glass were the up and comers, many were of the opinion that Haddrill was a better player than Glass. Haddrill was then struck down, Glass remained injury free, continued to play each week and to improve to the point where he is now the best FB in the comp. Maybe Haddrill wouldn't have had the same amount of improvement as Glass, and maybe Glass would be better now regardless, but it's injuries that have felled Sir Robert, not lack of ability...

Granted, he was promising in 2003-2004. I remember a few instances of him getting burnt badly against some opponents, but for the most part he was very serviceable. Against Glass back then, I think it would be hard to say who was better out of him and Robbie. My point pertains to us keeping a injury riddled player on the sidelines for what appears to be his 3rd season, who was only serviceable - but showed some greatness. Doesn't matter their potential when they keep injurying themselves.

To be honest I was looking forward to him coming back this year, because I wanted to see if he could do what Hayden did, but alas, doesn't look promising.

Who knows where the year will lead. A big strong body like Haddrils available come end of season, or perhaps finals time may be perfect.

Especially considering the fact that McPharlin has never played a full season going into his 8th year as an afl footballer.

All sorts of crabs end up being premiership players. Many different players can play a role in a season because of fitness, supension, injury, self-inflicted damage caused by drugs. Some of those things would happen at the Dockers of course.

Haddrill's best chance of breaking back in was because Johnson's been suspended. Johnson will be back by the time Haddrill's ready to try again, and by then a new defence will have been worked out without him. Haddrill's best chance now is if we have trouble with some big forwards and he is brought in to strengthen the defence. If we can control them without him I'd say he hasn't got much hope now.

You're right Pure Purple, after Johnson returns Haddrill will probably only come into the side if McPharlin, Parker, Grover or Johnson gets injured.

Like Seaby! The 06 Eagles are nothing like 92 and 94.

I always remember the days when Haddrill tore up on a forward flank. He's quite a flexible player, though running in straight lines is probably better for his legs.
