Profile (From Roosnews guide 07)
A strong first half to the season saw Daniel able to do some good jobs shutting down the opposition's better forwards.Still must work on his kicking, but there is room for further improvement through practice. (Comments by D.Crocker)

Cororoo's thoughts....Daniel impresses with his trade mark aggression and willingness to always make a contest.Early on Daniel had a tendancy to give away silly free kicks but this aspect of his game is improving and he has developed into an important member of North Melbourne's back 6.

Appologies for the format being a little different to the template. This is due to the nuff nuffs who put the content on the Official site not having a player profile for Daniel Pratt.

Daniel Pratt - Has shown consistent improvement since making his debut with the club in 2005. The solid defender's consistency has been rewarded with a new two-year deal that, like with several other Roos players, ties him to the club until the end of 2008.

Rex Hunt said in his 3AW call that he liked a lot about Daniel Pratt and the way that he reminded him of an old fashioned dour Shinboner.Willingness to make a contest at every opportunity a feature of this game.

On the replay Pratt seemed to have a Pratt like game....what we would normally expect.

Gave away a silly 50m penalty when there was no reason man handle his opponent.

A couple of disposal clangers marred an overall serviceable day.

A free kick given away for high contact resulted in Collingwood taking the lead in the final quarter.I think Pratt was stiff to have that decision against him.Pratt and the Collingwood player were both lunging at the ball and the contact was incidental.Pretty soft in the context of things but the contact was there...It's hard to be objective or not too one eyed with those kinds of decisions.

Daniel Pratt was named among the best players for North in the AFL Stat site.

Riggio and Arch gave away the 50m penalties this week.

Not much to report really onther than Daniel Pratt played another reasonable game in defence for North.

Daniel's best dodge for the day was saved for the aftermatch function where he was set to be the first player interviewed. However , the emcee grilled Rick Aylett with some posing questions and time ran out before Daniel's turn to take the podium....

I was lucky enough to have a bit of a chat with Daniel before the official part of the after match commenced although I've got to admit that I didn't mention my part in this section of BigFooty.

The funniest part was when a good natured (and slightly tipsy?) North fan came up and introduced himself to me and then asked Daniel , "So who are you?":D I couln't believe it , but like water off a ducks back , Daniel introduced himself and told the bloke he wore the # 30 guernsey for North.

After the result I must admit that I was too annoyed to read any articles about the game or seek out the game stats for Pratty.

A reasonable first half , one clanger come to mind where Daniel was caught in a takle one the boundary late in the second quarter.....Was this the start of the over use of handball which continued on in the 3rd Q?

Hard job for defenders to stem the flow when the midfield effort was appalling for just about the entire third Q.

I'll make a better effort in the report for next weeks game.........Still a bit peed off!

Two wins in a row and another solid performance by Daniel Pratt.

Once again named in the best players in a team which had winners all over the ground.

Pratt placed on the injury list with concussion although during the replay I did not see the clash which resulted in concussion

What really impressed me about Pratt this week was when he was in a scuffle with a Swan opponent , you could just see that he wanted to let one go.However , he shaped up held back and didn't throw one.In the past he would have had a go and possibly given away a free or 50M.

Smart play from Daniel.

A quiet game for Pratt this week as far as the stats go.

But that is not to say Pratty didn't play well....As far as defenders go, it is not so much the number of possessions a defender gets but the number of possessions the defenders opponent gets....

Early on in the match ,Pratt did what is quickly becoming his trademark "flying spoil" across a pack and nearly took out Archer with some friendly fire....Thankfully neither player was hurt (although Pratt seemed to come off second best in the clash)...Memories of the King/Colbert clash came to mind but thankfully this was not the case.

Another solid performance from Pratty.

I thought he had done his shoulder for sure when he went off the ground....But thankfully it turned out to be a rib injury which was not serious enough to end his game all together.

The Fevola sandwich was huge clash ...Second week running Pratty has been in a big cruncher....Just how hard does this bloke go?

Unlucky to give away a 50m penalty.Given the bloke was only about 10m out directly infront it probably didn't matter that much.

How come all the people who have been slagging him of over the previous couple of seasons are not posting here?

A very solid performer who does his job week-in week-out and brings a real hardness to our backline. an underated player.

Seems to be a break through game for Pratt with a number of people including him in their votes this week and various threads posted about his efforts.

I didn't include him in my votes this week but is was difficult to exclude him.I went for Spitz , Boomer and Shagga. However, Pratty could have easily been slotted in.

I suppose the clanger count went against Daniel this week.

Next week will be a major exercise for our defenders and if Pratty's form continues along current lines we will fare well in defence.

Cororoo was out on the piss all night and missed seeing the game.

Not to worry , there were plently of Crows fans there who insisted on giving me regular score updates as the night went on......

After many reds and quite a few scotch and sodas were consumed , they learned to tread carefully or risk incurring the FAAAAAAAARK ORF!!!!!!! reply.

Anyhow , back to round 13.

A very good performance by all of our defenders. However Pratt and Spud combined regularly to repel the Bulldogs attacks forward and some posters are claiming this to be Pratt's best game so far.

I had Pratt with 2 votes this week with Boomer pipping him at the post for 3 votes.

A danger game with so much riding on the end result for both teams.
We have had some close games going either way against Freo and this one turned out to be another nail biter with Freo coming back after we had what seemed to be an unattainable lead.

Firrito has been singled out for his great game against Pav

Pratty had no one to man up on at the start of the game and as a result he sprinted up the ground to be an extra man in North's forward line. He played up the ground and in the middle for part of the first quarter until interchanges saw him need to go back to a defensive role.

Did one awesome bit of play in the third term, where he dived around an opponent, tapped the ball back behind himself, spun around on the ground, took possession, got up and ran off with the ball.
It was a one-on-one where he was out of position and he won it comprehensively.
A gun.

Well I've been too slack to get details of Pratty's stats this week.

I'm far too excited about our team finishing in the top 4 with a double chance when ALL THE SO CALLED MEDIA EXPERTS and a certain washed up,has been ex player/captain predicted doom and gloom for this season.

In the words of the late E J Whitten "Our blokes STUCK IT RIGHT UP THEM!":thumbsu:

Back to the subject:

Daniel Pratt's 2007 season has been a break through season not only for Daniel but also for the North Melbourne Football Club.

Daniel's form has improved to such a degree that the imminent departure of Glenn Archer will be less of a blow for the team given Daniel has stepped up to the plate along with Michael Firrito who has also been sensational this year.

I note that Daniel Pratt has been included in many peoples votes this week and some are outraged by his non inclusion in the 40 strong squad of AA nominations.

Here's to wishing Daniel all the best in the 2007 finals series and congratulations on a sensational 2007 home and away series.

Expecting another good year from Pratty, just like last year.

He has gone from being a bit of loose cannon in defence from time to time to become an important member of the back six.

With Arch now retired ,Pratty and the rest of the back 6 need to step up and take on the extra responsibility....Looking forward to a big year from #30!:thumbsu:

North's 2nd and 3rd Quarters this week was the worst I have seen them play for some time.

Delivery to our Forwards was second rate. The ball was either delivered to Thommo's ankles or too high over his head. Woofa struggled this week as well.

Arch11 is correct in another thread.Going down the members wing to the southern end is not the way to play at AAMI stadium. It is the most difficult pocket to score from and recently we seem to get sucked into that side of the ground every time we play there.

Pratty just about had his head ripped off in the Crows forward pocket for no free kick. (northern end) and when we abused the umpire one of the two fat lesbians sitting behind Cororoo Jnr and myself suggested he ducked into to tackle.High contact is high contact.

I suggested that instead of watching footy perhaps they should attend Adelaide Lightning matches given they obviously have no appreciation of the rules of AFL. Cororoo Jnr told one of them to go and have a shave:D

It's not surprising the Pratty has scored a lot of 1 and 2 votes from posters in the BF B & F...Another very good perfomance from Pratty even getting the chance at times to play a bit further up the ground and have a few shots on goal. I just love it when defenders get to have a shot on goal .

Pratt was leading possessions in the first quarter (9) so I was expecting it to be a big night for Pratty. There was a bit of an injury scare at one stage but I think it would take a collision with a frieght train to keep Pratty off the ground for any great length of time

The back 6 will be busy this week but I am sure they are looking forward to mixing it with Geelong. It will be a good opportunity to hit them hard just prior to the finals series.
