What changes can be made for the game against the Crows.
I assume that Foster and D. Johnson are both injured and that Gaz jnr has had one of a handful of games he will get or will he just get the trip to Adelaide for the "feel" of an interstate trip.
The 22 that played on sat
B: Brenton Sanderson – Matthew Scarlett – Brad Sholl
HB: Corey Enright – Tom Harley – Tim McGrath
C: James Rahilly – Peter Riccardi – David Clarke
HF: Cameron Ling – Ben Graham – Paul Chapman
F: Kent Kingsley – Cameron Mooney – Brent Grgic
Foll: Steven King – Joel Corey – James Bartel
Int: Daniel Foster – Aaron Lord – David Johnson – Gary Ablett
Out for me Rahilly, Foster (inj) D Johnson (inj) Ablett
In Burns, Hunt, S Johnson, White.

Bringin in Ronnie Burns (definitely!) and Mitchell White would be a good start-- but more importantly, a fresh attitude would be just as meaningful as anything.
I wouldn't leave Ablett Jr. out, though. If you're going to give him "the interstate experience", that experience would include allowing him the chance to play in the game-- otherwise, the experience is meaningless.
"All you learn from sitting on the bench is how to pick splinters out of your butt," any of a variety of famous coaches have said. I hope Thompson feels this way about the issue to playing Ablett, or not playing him, as well as any of the other young players.
Cheers,
William
Nolsey,I'd probably make the same changes as you.If White is unavailable,Mensch or Woolnough may come in & if Burns is unavailable,Ablett may stay in.

Jub Jub and You_idiot I think that James Rahilly's talent is wasted and that this will be a repeat of Houlihan and Steinford where he is played in one position or does the same negative role every week, hell probably be traded at the end of the year and come back to bite us like most blokes that we trade. Id give Jimbo 2 weeks in the 2's and give him and attacking role give him some confidence, then bring him back in an attacking role and see if his attitude changes.
The signs on Saturday Night were not very promising, not because we got well beaten, but self-doubt has seemed to creep in to the players minds.
It is about time that Brad Sholl is given a role in the midfield/half forward role he has not had an opponent since he was playing with his brother at North, at least he can be damaging.
Still dont know why Houlihan was delisted, Murphy you can understand and Bizzell was for salary cap reasons and it was good to see that the only bloke's who can do any sort of tagging role Corrigan and Steinford are no longer with us.
It s only round one, but the signs are not good, but then we could win the next 7 in a row and id look like a big Richard Cranium.
I can't understand why Sholl isn't given a run in the centre, even if its only 5-10mins a qtr.In last years Ansett Cup,he played twice in the centre & was easily our best player in both games, yet never played there during the season.
I heard on K-ROCK that David Johnson is likely to be out for 4 weeks & James Kelly may come in as his replacement this week.

That is bad luck for David, he looked as though he had a bit of grunt about him. I think that Jim Kelly deserves a game but he will only get a game at the expense of no 29 or if Rahilly gets the boot. My guess is they want to get Josh Hunt, Wojcinski, Woolnough and Danny O'Brien at least a few games early in the season and Andrew Carazzo has to be a chance to be elevated and given a crack.
Jub If Steven King has been played at CHF for a majority of the preseason with Street in the Ruck why is Chambers not in the Ruck or Cameron Mooney given a licence to Ruck, I believe that Cameron Mooney needs something to Ignite him like Kent Kingsley.
On another note I heard Mick Turner saying that there is still quite a few possible Geelong pick ups under the father son rule in the next few years.

I don't know whether we can make a large number of changes.
I think that both Bartel and Ablett should be given another game.
Johnson will be out, we know that and by all reports Kelly is almost a dead cert for the weekend.
I'd have Mitchell White in, probably for Foster, who looked injured on Saturday (haven't heard anything since though) and I'd say Rahilly will be dropped and I'd give Josh Hunt a game. He has a big future and has the ability to play in a number of positions.
I doubt whether Ronnie will be back. I hope he doesn't go off the rails like Rioli has because he is the key and we struggle without his spark.
IN: White, Kelly, Hunt
OUT: Foster, Johnson, Rahilly

Absolutely spot-on. No Ronnie, no win.

There is a big problem with Geelong- Kicking Goals, we tried to flood againt Essendon that worked well :bash
Lingy was recruited as a Full-Forward now he is a midfielder.
Its about time that the Coaching Staff be pro-active then reactive.
Time to pull off a few suprises at the selection table maybe give Steve Johnson or Matt McCarthy a run just to suprise the crows.
Id Play Sholly on the ball hed get at least 15 kick wouldnt he ???

Out: Riccuito
Still have enough midfield talent. Go Crows! :D :D
Cat fans, do you think it's likely your team will flood on Saturday night? I recall last year's game where only 11 points separated the teams and the Cats managed to successfully strangle the life out of us. If Kingsley hadn't missed that goal in the goal square, you might have taken the points.
I was just reading on your other board the talk about Bomber's comments regarding McLeod. I recall him making similar statements before last year's game...I think it's a ploy of sorts, with maybe a touch of truth in it...I'm sure you'll find someone to curb his influence and come away from Footy Park triumphantly with the 4 points.
Rahilly will probably play on McLeod. The other option is Ling.

I read Menschy was the secret weapon? :p Pity he's not in the team, I just love watching him play.
