One of the best things about the win in round 1 was the fact that we've set a standard and the playing group has set a standard that we must aim for in every game.

We currently have the following players not in the 22 and ready to start breathing down the neck of those that are :

JJ, Campo, Laycock, Heff, Cole, Nash, Dyson, Dempsey and the new guys in Gumby, Houli, Hislop....

Competition for places will be red hot in the next few weeks. Perform and you might get a game.

It will be interesting to see where everyone fits if we have a good run with injuries.

+ Johns

You could add Neagle as well.

And Lonergan looked very promising in the Darwin game...

there will be a lot more compitition this year from the players. most will feel that their spot is more vulrnerable than last year. Hopefully we can have a good run with injury and push for the 8

The million dollar question , who do you leave out. As far as the midfield goes at the moment i dont have a spot for Camp,JJ and Pev in the side all at once. Could probably carry two of them but we dont want to sacrifice any of our run/speed.
If Laycock comes back in then you would be looking at Keps place.
As for Johns or Neagle you would be looking to bring them in against sides who you think you could exploit their third tall backman without being burnt by their opponent running off them.

Let's take it week by week. Jason Johnson and Camporeale are not going to play this week and Laycock is very much an outside chance and would only play to help Hille quell Sandilands. Chances are that someone will get injured and there will be a spot when Johnson and Campo are ready.

For this week, I would say no changes. We played well and no one was too much of a weak link. Looks like Ricky Dyson will be unlucky again.

Talk about Johnson and Campo when they're ready to come in.

As much as the team looked well balanced, Jetta and Davey wont play every game this year...especially Jetta as their immature bodies wont be able to handle the heavy workload week in, week out. JJ will be a walk up start for Pev's spot. The others will have to work extremely hard to earn their spots in the side. Incidently, I still believe there are 3 spots available in any given week, being Pev, Davey and Jetta. We could do worse with having Dyson, Campo, Bolton and Laycock as replacements.

Yeah, I'm pretty much saying that circumstances will have no doubt changed when they are ready to play. Whilst it may look impossible to fit them in now, there will probably be a spot in a few weeks.
