View Full Version : Silverchair- Diarama
After getting this album yesterday and listening to it 2 and a bit times already, i am very impressed.
Very diverse with excellent melody (aka neon ballroom) with the odd heavy guitar riff makes it very catchy, but i'll have to listen to it more to get a better understanding. Daniel John's songwriting and voice has improved considerably from there early rubbish.
Standout songs for mine are Without You, My Favourite Thing and World Upon my shoulders.
I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars, and hopefully it has the ability to be listened to over and over again.
Cheers
Yeah, I've been waiting for this to come out. I'll get it on the weekend.

The new stuff I have heard smacks of America and sell out which personally will only improve Silverchair...they seem to have matured ..maybe its called learning their instruments and their art and doing it properly..id say theyve got a lot of help
theyre certainly a different band from what they started out as...
from nirvanna to semisonic - miles apart

Daniel Johns sure has that androgony thing worked well. If it wasn't for that tuft of pubic hair on his chin, I wouldn't be able to tell!

It's funny, it seems like Natalie Imbruglia's going the adrogony look as well, if it were'nt for her puppies I wouldn't be able to tell! :D
Liked what I've heard so far from the silverchair album, I'll be buying it soon when I can scrape a bit of money together!

i got it so cheap for 18 bucks at the new JB at Chaddy.
Have just put it on now the first song is sucky grrrh but i will prob love it once i hear it again. There is a good one that i had already downloaded 'One Way Mule' but yeh better not judge yet coz i'm only on the second track which by now has been overplayed to buggery on the radio!
After watching Rove last night, I can happily say I have better facial hair than Daniel Johns! And he's famous and all.
And what was with his voice? Was he doing a Michael Jackson impersonation or something?
My brother got the Neon Ballroom CD. While I thought it was good at first, it soon got annoying that those songs were so damn catchy. Especially as an amateur song-writer. I'd get halfway through a song, realise it was really a Silverchair song and have to scrap it! I can't count the number of times that happened!

um i was gonna yell and say spell Diorama properly but won't bother this album is a bit of a poofy piece of ****! Wass happened to them? MWAHAHA no wonder JB had it reduced like 4 times and get this it went from $18.85 to $18.65 down 20 cents lol lol lol no wonder. Problem with this album is the single came out too early got way too much airplay and now the album is a bit of a disappointment i feel. I reckon in true Silverchair style though the next few singles will get overplayed to buggery as well and probably make Diorama a sucess. ONE WAY MULE is the sickest song tho so i won't bag it but yeh already had it off the net, lucky that survived the cut coz i don't think they were gonna put it on the album!
wouldnt judge the album on 1 or 2 listens, its one of those diverse albums that u have to listen 3 or 4 times to get a good understanding of what its on about. I've listened to it about 5 times and i really like it, and the first couple of listens it was boring as.

Ill get a copy of it as well. Did anyone read the Herald Sun today, there was an article about Daniel going to therapy, who cares what he does, let him have his privacy for crying out loud!

No, apparently people who are famous are no longer aloud to have any privacy. As a Roos fan, you should know that. (I'm not being nasty here. I'm just presenting the media's apparent point-of-view.) For instance, the back of today's H-S: who cares if a bunch of Roos and former Roos went to Wayne Carey's place? This whole thing (the Carey scandal) should be dropped by now, surely. The article in question just seemed to be fishing for news that wasn't there!
(My apologies for bringing this up in the music page. It is merely another example of the media being insensitive about a famous person's privacy.)

I bought it 2 days ago and have only listened to it twice but it seems alright so far. I don't usually love a song straight away, I listen to them over and over and end up loving them...I agree about the song getting overplayed...so I'm not going to listen to the radio for a bit I think :p
Glad this topic was here........I just heard that Van Dyke Parks was somehow involved with this album, unsure if it's in a songwriting/producing/other way, but I would be totally grateful if someone could have a peek at the liner/track notes and let me know. :) Thankies!!!!!

Yep Jacs. It says, "Orchestral Arrangements on "Across The Night", "Tuna In The Brine" and "Luv Your Life" by Van Dyke Parks" :)

THANKS KATEY!!!!!! You're a champion!!!!! :D Now I have to buy the album. :p lol
For anyone who is wondering who the hell Van Dyke Parks is, he composes film scores, and he collaborated with Brian Wilson on the Beach Boys 'SMiLE' album..... he's very eccentric but really fascinating too. Cheers. :)
