They do.
In the sanfl were it belongs.
Port Power are a new club only created 10 years ago and they should wear the teal with pride.
Ron, Ron, Ron. Why you gotta be hatin'?
Excuse my ignorance, but which one of those two is Port Adelaide?

maybe in the SANFL/AFL, but what league is that again
Port Power - formed 1996
Port Adelaide Magpies - who cares, their still playing SANFL, unless they were formed in 1996 as well. Didn't think so.
In other words, Port wear their prison bars week in week out!

I am a port adelaide supporter, but I still think that the prison bar geurnsey should stay in the SANFL. That is where the Port Adelaide magpies won their 30-odd premierships, and they deserve it there. The Power won the 2004 flag with their teal guernseys, and the players should wear it proudly.

Port Adelaide joined the AFL, so we had to make the compromise, which is fair enough.
We now have the black, white, teal and silver, they are our AFL colours, and I for one am proud every time I see my club represented on the field in the club colours.

But seriously, they should be allowed to wear it in heritage round (unless they play Collingwood away) because look at the Hawks one from a few years back which was basically the same as the Bulldogs one, plus the Swans and Dockers have basically the same one. Cant hurt to use it once a year.

Couldn't have said it better mate. And to whoever said I go for the crows, you are out of your mind! I couldn't wish anything better than for us to smash the crows, and for the crows to be 0-3 after 3 rounds. As far as I'm concerned, Crows time is over, and they've stuffed it up bigtime. With the injuries they've got, and their players getting older, I reckon they won't finish any higher than 7th this year, and I bloody hope they don't make the 8!
Everyone knows that Port moved up into the AFL.
But the SANFL insisted that a new team be created to maintain a Port interest in the local comp. Hence a new team, the Port Magpies, were created.
Strange that some people say different. Must be trolls.

Many a Premiership has been witnessed by this Port supporter seeing players wearing the good 'ol B/W.
We'll make the same tradition with our new colours, that is, success!
Port Adelaide has always been and will always be synonymous with success!
The sneaky buggers were wearing black and white socks as part of their 'away' strip against Freo last week.
I reckon the pies rabble should be looking over their shoulder a bit more. Especially when their Club gets their whole squad to wear red jumpers in Perth today at training.

Ummmm, that's a ridiculous statement. The league forces the club to change their socks from straight black when playing away; the teal socks were tried but failed so the next step was a stripe... and let's not forget that both black and white are club colours.

Oh kiddo, please don't use words you cannot spell.
I'm happy with the Power colours as they stand but I definitely have an issue with the club not being able to utilise the black/white strips for HERITAGE rounds. The whole point of the round is to visit the past for 1 week and respect a club's origins/roots... for Collingwood to put up any opposition on that one is just plain pathetic.

No need to be defensive. It's common knowledge the dispute between the two Clubs about which Club should be in Black and white.
By wearing black and white sox in an away strip stuck me as a desperate angle to appear as though your Club has some sought of divine right to wear the black and white.
By doing so will alienate you even more from the SA football followers who would like to follow an AFL team without changing allegiance from their current suburban side.
they are wearing their guernsey, the one they have been proud to wear since their inception in 1997.

You're reading far too much into it. Given that the Power launched a new away guernsey this year that is predominantly teal and silver, your comments seem even more unfounded. I'm not quite sure why you would do it, but it seems like you're just clutching at straws.

Surely the colours Port Adelaide Football Club wears is a decision for the Port Adelaide Football Club to determine & no one else.
Clash jumpers have been introduced this season so as far as I am concerned Port can wear what it wants as long as it changes when it plays away to avoid a clash.
All other clubs were happy to accept the license fee Port paid to join the AFL. Gives Port equal rights in my view.
Collingwood have worn an alternative jumper before:

Port didn't pay the License Fee. The SAnFL paid it as the SAnFL hold the License Port plays in the AFL under. All Port are in a Franchise of the SAnFL playing is the AFL under license. Just like the Crows and the Eagles and Freo in WA.

Collingwood's guernsey rightfully precludes ANY use of it by another team....especially one formed as recently as 1996.

:D Nice one Toots. When you guys continously bring up the 4 Australian championships, I thought the wins must have come in the 60's, 70's or 80's. I bet the comeptition was hot back 1890,1910,1913 and 1914  . Port Adelaide ( todays Port Magpies )comprehensively dominated the SANFL in the 70' and 80's yet not one Australian championship? What does that tell you about the SANFL compared to the VFL? The Port Magpies premierships were a mighty effort but meaningless when compared to the superior competition in the VFL.
Mind you, this post should be on the SANFL boards as it has no revelance to todays VFL/AFL or Port Power, est 1996.

Port Adelaide, the original MagpiesActually, Collingwood are the original Magpies. Port Adelaide are an older club but their original colours were magenta and navy blue, but in 1902 they switched to black and white and they became the Magpies.
This was well after Collingwood were already the black and white Magpies, and why people have mistakenly thought for so long that Collingwood followed Port is beyond me. It was definitely the other way around.

What's to say Collingwood didn't follow Nottingham County (whose black and white stripes Juventus took)?
This idea that Collingwood has a god-given monopoly on colours and stripes is absurd.

What people should remember is there is a team who wears the black and white and they are in the SANFL.
As far as the AFL is concerned, port power were created in 1997, hence they have no right to the black and white colours. Pretty simple.

On a little side note if anyone is interested in the Port Magpies history there is a great read here:
http://www.portmagpies.com.au/about.php
It dispells the myth some port power supporters try and give that they were formed in 400 BC or whatever it was, instead of 1997

Agreed, Collingwood were in the AFL first (say whatever you want about the Port Power vs Port Magpies deal) and were the pies first with black and white stripes.
However, IMO Port should be able to wear the black and white during heritage round as long as there is no clash with Collingwood and it aint that hard to make sure these two don't play each other at this time. Whatever you think about when Port first existed etc etc there is a connection between Port Power and the Port Magpies.

You really are a fool aren't you, chokester!
You're trying to tell us there were no Champions of Australia series between the 1890's and the outbreak of the first world war?
It's not surprising that you, who normally crawls about in the gutter, can't be bothered doing some basic research before you venture out to display your ignorance to the world.
Springchoke you've caught yourself an undersized fishey here, make sure you remember to throw him back! ;)

Port Adelaide Power play in the AFL and wear teal, end of thread :D
Port didn't pay the License Fee. The SAnFL paid it as the SAnFL hold the License Port plays in the AFL under. All Port are in a Franchise of the SAnFL playing is the AFL under license. Just like the Crows and the Eagles and Freo in WA.
You Port supporters are sooooo gullible.... then again you are from South Australia.Um, we just finished paying off our licence last year :o
It's really not hard people. We were asked to join the AFL. Hence the Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club were created to play in the SANFL. We were the PAFC in 1870, and are the PAFC now, right? ;)
Where in my post did I say anything about your claim to birth in 1870?
NO-WHERE!
Port are just a Franchise of the SAnFL, if Port or the Cows got into Trouble and went belly up the license Port or the Cows play under reverts back to the SAnFL. The SAnFL can then hand it to Glenelg or Norwood or whoever.
You DO-NOT own the License.

exactly the SANFL appoints half of port powers board members. Its like a franchise arm of the port magpies under SANFL control.
