I think mcveigh would tag nick stevens, watson in the midfield andhird will start the game in the forward line and move up the ground as the game goes on. Get ready for Fletcher to get around 25 posessions.

Poor Setanta looks like he's going to have a long, long day.

Sentanta on Lloyd :D

Message to Setanta:

"Its no longer pre-season cup. Prepare to have your ass handed to you."

It will be nice to see all of the Carlton faithful who splurted their crap in the AFL thread after the first pre-season game have to eat their words. It was LLloyds first game back, of course he was going to be rusty.

Setanta, be prepared.

Doubt Lance will play on Lucas. Probably will go to Waite.

And if Sentanta is getting stitched up by Lloyd, move Thornton on him. It is all gonna depend on the midfield anyway, I expect a good showing from your forward line regardless. In particular, I expect a good showing from Fev. He's gonna want blood after last week.

Will be a good match, as usual. :thumbsu:

Like 2 goals, seventeen or so disposals against Ben Rutten. His form is alright although I still feel like he is still a bit underdone.

Lloyd has been solid without being spectacular... If he can still kick a lazy 4 goals a game while Scotty is ripping it up then I would be a very happy man

Yeah its not everday that you can see a full-forward kick 10+. Even if he's playing with in himself, i'd expect him to kick 5+ on Sentanta.

Is that like when Matty only stages for free kicks sometimes?

Absolutly right. McVeigh cut Peter Bell to pieces last week. I would say he was close to best on ground. Kicked 2 great goals in the first quarter as well.
He could really hurt Stevo & Carlton on the rebound.

He could really hurt Stevo & Carlton on the rebound.Bell was Freos best in the first half, had 22 touches and kicked a goal. at 32 you wouldn't expect Bell to be dominating these days.

True. But McVeigh was very good at I thought that his disposal hurt Freo more than Bell's hurt Essendon.

You're showing yourself up again, yes Stevens is a very good player but so is McVeigh who has started the year extremely well, he's been a major factor in both wins

Bell had an excellent first quarter and was shut down for most of the game after that, McVeigh also kicked a goal himslef in the first quarter and applied much pressure through out the game, I'd suggest to Carlton fans to watch some games before making unfounded comments.

Not sure what his age has to do with anything, apparently on Big Footy footy players die on their 30th birthday.

Actually Bell had 20 possies. Only 8 of those were after McVeigh got moved to him.

We're not saying he is of the class of Stevens. But taggers don't need to be of that quality, they only need to know how to stop players of that quality.

i have been there all year, and you are wrong. No nice way to say it, but after the NAB cup we took a poll, and MOST posters had us finishing between 10th and 15th win somewhere between 6-10 wins.

This is achievable.

I want my captain to come out and say we are aiming for finals, if they weren't I would be disappointed. Does that mean he thinks that's were we should be? No, don't be silly, but set your aim high or you will always under achieve.
Unlike the Tigers, whose coach came out the week before the season started and said we are aiming to not improve this year........WTF?
No wonder their start to the year has been less than inspired.

Now, you can of course be ridiculous and come out and say that we are aiming to go from 3 1/2 wins and equal last to the top 4.......but what kind of idiot would make that sort of prediction........you could even allow speculation that the coaches future rides on that kind of success..........but that would just be foolish now wouldn't it.

hirdy said that he believed that they could finish top 4. after beating two "top 4" sides in a row what is he expected to say???
"oh, we have a couple of goods win but we will probably drop off soon."

sheedy himself wouldn't deny the fact that he is in troouble if we don't have a vastly improved season. i don't think hirdy was breaking any news there

dont get me wrong the dons look great this year and i think will have a good year.. but if i no essendon they will let this should win game slip and undo their good work// I really hope im wrong.. but our previous early season carlton games have not been good.. even in our stronger years.. hope they have turned the cornor and i think this game is one of the msot important games of the year.. cos its all well and good to win the ones u are not expeceted to win.. .but games like these can make or break a young sides year....

13 Apr 2007, 21:28
you haven't got a young side mate. fletcher, llyod, hird, lucas, michael, johnson, johnson, peverill, not really a young side. the difference is that this year michael has come in and freed fletcher, which has also allowed mcphee to play a running game off the half back line. once those two players are allowed latitude they cut sides apart....imo and hope that it won't happen this week.

Half of the side selected to play tomorrow has played less than 60 games.

Thats not a very experienced side.

Ok for a start, 1 of those players isnt named. We have 2 first year players playing. Our most experienced midfielder apart from Peverill is probably Stanton, who you could hardly call old.

Sure, on averages we dont hav a young list, but it isnt a very experienced list. Most of the guys you have named havent got 200 games to their name.

Weve still got years of building ahead of us, this is simply the start of a dynasty.

Would we do that?;)

Good luck this week.

Saints - hard to read their form. No Fraser though - ? Drop Michael.........in all honesty doesn't really have a match up against the saints.

Not sure who to tip - is there form here for one side vs another?

Neither do Lucas and Lloyd with Hudghton and Maguire out. I think we should drop them also so we can find better matchups ;)
