Watched the AFL highlights show on Setanta for the first time Wednesday, and was fairly impressed. Shared the coverage equally between all games, and much better than Sky's effort from the past two years where they'd show highlights of one game and then 10 second grabs of the others.
The live games on Setanta are the real bonus, I'm not sure whether it is a scheduled thing or they just show a game where they can find a slot in their programme. We're not on this week from what I can see, it looks like Carlton v Essendon followed by St Kilda v Bulldogs from 5am Saturday morning and Sydney v Brisbane from 4am Sunday morning.
Also saw a replay of the Sydney v Collingwood game on British Eurosports yesterday, not sure if that is a regular thing but could be good for those who have a Freeview box but not a Sky subscription.
Anwyay I'll be sure to post next time we're scheduled to have one of our games on the box.

How is the coverage? Is the commentary from Setanta or via the Australian commentary teams?

Theres no lead in, just crosses straight to the Aussie telecast,
Last weekend it was channel 10, Piggy Dunstall and Alistair Lynch fronting the coverage and our Colby on the sidelines. Can't for the life of me remember who was doing the match commentary.
I think this one was for the Qld audience, but the coverage was pretty good as it has been for all the games I've seen.
Theres been no UK discussion of AFL from what I've seen.

Anyone know if you can pick up this coverage on mainland Europe also (in particular in Denmark)?

British Eurosport (or Eurosport in Denmark I'm guessing) have some rights, but nothing live. Setanta have live games, but we're not on this match. They will have decent highlights midweek.

No coverage again this week in the UK (but the highlights shows are excellent, and so much better than Sky used to do). :(
I'm in Wellington at present and I find it staggering that you can obtain better coverage 22 hours away in the UK compared to 4 hours away here.
In NZ you get one game a round live (the Sat afternoon game) and the dodgy highlights show on a Tuesday night. What a joke. The sport is invisible over here.

Setanta is 15 or 16 pounds on Virgin. 3 live games plus the highlights package during the week. Not sure about the Eurosport times but if you search on virginmedia.co.uk in the tv listings you should be able to find out.
Failing that, hit your local Walkabout or if you are in London, head to the slug @ fulham for your footy fix
Hope This Helps

£15 a week on Sky. You get Setanta 1 and 2 (live scottish, german, french and dutch football as well as the Aussie Rules), Celtic TV, Rangers TV, Golf Channel, NASN (great for US sports) and next year there will be Premier League on it as well (might have to pay extra for that).

Live 7.00 Saturday morning against the Eagles. Hope we keep up our 100% Setanta record.
Regarding the query above you can also subscribe to Setanta if you have a freeview box, think it costs a touch over £10 but you would need to check with them that the subscription includes Setanta 1 and Setanta 2.

I'll be in Barcelona this weekend so will be missing it unfortunately.
I wonder if Sentanta could sponsor the Kangaroos or would that be a conflict of interest with Ch 7 and 10 back home, wouldn't have thought so because it is an overseas provider?

All aboard the Setanta train if you're in the UK right now.
I don't know how long this has been the case, but it's now available on Freeview. The only requirement is a freeview box that contains a card slot - one of the cheapest out there is the Sagem model that Setanta optionally sell you when you sign up, for GBP39.99. The only channel you get is Setanta Sports One, but that's the one that shows all the goodness.
On top of that they've got a Ricky Hatton promo deal at the minute, which I just signed up for. You get the first 3 months for 10.99, pay a 10 quid sign-up fee, then it's 10.99 a month.
Worth getting on board for IMO, esp seeing as they'll be showing Prem League next season.
BRING ON NEXT WEEK'S LIVE AFL GAME IN MY OWN LOUNGE ROOM!!

And as mentioned in the post above we are live next Saturday 10am.
Mmmm, Saturday morning fry up, North beat the crows and then off to the local a few celebratory beers out in the Manchester sunshine. Can't get much better than that.

Anyone get up to watch it this morning and find that the "live" west coast versus adelaide had been replaced with a replay of the saints game?
