Thoughts?

You guys end up with Judd and we bring Buddy home at the end of the year would your top dogs do that trade?

I think we'd be pretty daft not to. Buddy is good but Judd.. class of his own. I highly doubt West Coast would be up for that trade, unless Juddy leaves off his own bat.

1) No way West Coast would accept that deal

2) No way would I trade away Buddy personally - yes, even for Judd.

We're talking about team fabric here. Judd is a great player, but why would we trade away a born and bred (and I mean in terms of being drafted to the club), player in Buddy for someone who learnt his wares at another club?

Only way WCE will accept if it was Buddy and Pick 1 which means either Hawks need to bomb out or find out what Richmond wants...

Not a F'n chance in hell of that happening. Anyway, Buddy signed till at least end 2008.

Judd's not worth a million to us in player payments.

We wont trade draft picks. This year is the speed draft and we need some speedesters so we wont be trading our picks.

Judd is a gun no doubt but I think a 6'5 guy with franklins pace and speed is an extreme rareity and will cause match up problems all career.

Noooooooooo way. Judd is class no doubt about it but no way to the trade with buddy love. His height, pace, arrogance and above all with have only seen a glimpse of how good this guy is going to be. He with no doubt will be a superstar of the competition and provide all football lovers with highlights galore.

Forget about Judd and watch the buddy train roll on.

Glad to see the general pattern of the posts. Would be really sad to see Buddy leave. Agree with the fact that he will always be a hard match up with his size and pace. The Roos supporters behind me were extremely jealous today and wished they had someone like that in their side. Plus we have a lot of up and coming young players who we need to keep under the salary cap in the future. Surely signing Judd at the price they are talking would ruin our chance of keeping our current group together.

And we love him.... Makes you sit on the edge of your seat whenever he gets the pill. I know Judd does too, but that raw talent is something special....

No WAY.I would rather buddy any day. I have said this b4, but why would Buddy come back here as his whole family live in Melbourne now and his sister is based at the AIS.His dad is from Victoria in the first place. He will always be a Hawk.

Williams and bateman for judd maybe but not buddy(he is at the heart of the hawks of the next 10 years on field and in a marketing sense) such a hypothetical thread raise it at the end of the year, i doubt that judd is going anywhere.

I agree. I'd rather have a couple of star players than one superstar player for the same price. What would happen if Judd got injured?

And we need to continue drafting youngsters to create a steady supply of players in coming years.

Judd is a freak, everyone knows it, but to get him (especially when we wouldn't be one of his preferred destinations) we would have to give up alot more than Franklin.

Add to that he would take up a fair chunk of our cap we would be under alot of pressure to keep our current group together.

Best case for Hawthorn right now is that Judd leaves the Eagles for the Roos & Buddy remains a Hawk. Of course he won't be leaving the Eagles. He seems the sort of guy who wouldn't want to let anyone down, even if there are some bad ellements in the team I'm sure he's formed a close bond with a number of the other players, and the coaching staff.

Would any WCE player want to come to Melbourne and risk their Crystal Meths supply?

taking tambling off their hands for the number 1 pick

anyways it would cost us too much to get Judd, Bateman we could afford to lose, but not Franklin or Williams

Nope, wouldn't do it. Judd is great, but I'd prefer a super team than a team with a superstar in it. 1 man doesn't make a team, especially if he doesn't have anyone in the forward line to kick it to.

.

This is an absolute non issue for our club. Let the other 14 clubs make fools of themselves if they wish to be fighting over Cinderella's shoe.

To bring Judd to our club with such a high price tag hanging on him would be sheer lunacy for the family club. It would cause massive disruption between our list and be an abject disincentive for our kids, one or two of them would have to make way for a deal with the Weagles.

Besides, we like our players to have a smile on their dials now and again.

I don't think we need Judd with us because weve already got enough young gun talents to win us premierships. Ansyway, he probably would want the captaincy and then we would of need to take it of Mitch or Hodgy and that would probably cause us problems like what happend when Vanders got it from Crawsf and spida wanted it then left and we dont want Hodgy or Mitch to leave us.

We all know the weagles will spike juddy's drinks. Give him a taste of the good gear. Intro him to JK. If he still wants to go inject some metho into his calves.

Lmao at this thread. There are similiar threads on all team boards.
This is going to go on all year until he re-signs with the Weagles.

Superstar, but not needed at that price! Too dear. I think the shoulders and hamstrings will become an issue over time, anyway.

Judd isn't worth Franklin AND pick 8/10...especially if Franklin keeps on the upward curve.

Who knows what type of player Franklin will end up becoming, Judd is a gun but some players are just untouchable even if the best player in the game - and arguably the last decade, is potentially on the market.

BTW Judd won’t leave the Eagles, his manager is playing the market to bump up Judd’s $$$ value.

NO WAY!

Buddy is awsome! the greg inglis of AFL, and then some...

judd is great but the money wasted on him would create hassles to keep our team together in the long term.

Fu /ck NO! We love Buddy...

You hear that cheer when he came off against North in the last quarter?

That is the sound of LOVE!!

I think everyone may have missed the most likely scenario - Kangas finish bottom, trade first pick and priority pick to Hawthorn for Ben Dixon. We then on trade it to whoever offers us the best deal so they can get Judd. Most demons fans seem very keen as he supported them as a lad so do we take Brock McLean and Matthew Bate and there first draft pick for the number one they will need?? :p

Judd will be the more consistant player over the two's career. But Franklin has that X factor about him and will hurt opposition teams more. I wouldn't trade Franklin for any player in the comp.

Hear, hear, I wouldn't swap our Buddy for any other player. He certainly does have that "X" factor, and we love him. And, remember, he is only very young, just turned 20 I think, so the best years are yet ahead of him..

I wish Judd would just sign with the eagles and be done with it. In the recent edition of Hawk Talk, Pelchen talked about how our TPP was stuffed and out of balance.

It has taken several years to redress this and place us in a position to recruit, and hold onto, good players.

For mine, I wouldn't trade Buddy for Judd as a straight swap. Our midfield is very good and players like Franklin are very hard to find. A tall athletic forward is better value than a mid-fielder. What we need is forward power - our mid-field is good enough.

One player can't make our club successful.

Once again I will say it get over this Judd CRAP and focus on a up and coming side. Judd will not leave and we can fit him in the salary cap anyway. So get over it and move on. GOOO BUDDY LOVE!

Daniel Wells would be a good get.. He would be the icing on the cake for our midfield..

I doubt Hawthorn could afford Judd but hypothetically if we offered what we can afford and he chose us over the other clubs.... then:
I would offer Bateman, Morton and our 1st rounder (probably be about 6-10). No more than that. Judd would be great but not worth giving up your heart and soul.
