Anybody else get into this band?
Without a doubt the best rock band going around fronted by a chick. There first 2 albums were awesome but i actually find myself playing Beautiful Garbage the most, what a top album. Breaking Up The Girl, Silence is Golden, Parade and Untouchable are the highlights off a great album.
Anybody else a fan?
They used to be great, and I used to love them.
But their new stuff is a crock of ****, absolute crap.
They are finally living up to their band name apparently.
Went from a grunge style to now more a pop style, absolute crock of ****.

I agree with Mase, Garbage are now just that.

Anyone who wonders where Garbage got some of their ideas from should take a listen to "Doppelganger" by Curve.
Santos, you are a bad influence on me - fancy inviting people to bag Jod's taste in music. Still, the first two Garbage albums were good, but I got bored of them pretty quickly.

PS - I don't like Garbage either, so the Doubt-O-Meter rises a little more.

Their old stuff is great.
I agree with you guys that the two singles off the new album are very pop oreintated and my least favourites off the new album. But lets be deadly honest here....own up Shinners, Darky, Hitman, Santos.....be absolutley honest!! Have you actually heard any of Silence is Golden, Parade, Untouchable or Breaking up the Girl.
Its just like there old stuff to me but better. Garbage rock.

I used to like Garbage, Joddy. I don't now. I have listened to every album, every single, etc. Hell, I even had the displeasure of sitting through them at Big Day Out.
They've lost it, and lost me.

You're on your own on this one Jod, and believe me I am really disappointed when I say that.
The debut album by Garbage was awesome and I listened to it so many times it was ridiculous. Their albums since have been poor IMO and .... well they just suck in comparison to the first.

I never said they were bad (didn't actually comment on their music other than say i didn't like it)... I just pointed out your ridiculous overuse of statements such as "without a doubt", especially given that several instances of doubt followed your post!
A friend of mine has the Beautiful Garbage CD as well as the one before it, and I've heard both several times... and I still don't like them.
my friend bought me the album for my birthday...i was disappointed. i don't get good presents :(
Well there arent that many good rock bands fronted by a chick....

I wouldn't really call Saint Etienne, Portishead, and Cardigans rock bands (st.E and Cardigans are pop bands, while Portishead....how would you label them?) but then again, I don't think that Garbage are a rock band either.
Elastica have broken up as well.

How bout the donnas, shangri las, the international noise conspiracy, murder city devils, the cramps, pretty girls make graves,....theyre are much better role models for girls in bands.

Last time I looked, it was Lux Interior who was the singer in the Cramps. :)
But you can add Sleater-Kinney, the Bangs, and Le Tigre to the list of great (punk) rock bands with women on lead vocals.
Then there are bands like Broadcast, Stereolab, Rose Melberg, Dressy Bessy, the Foots, Birdie and Girlfrendo who are excellent role models for women in bands.
