View Full Version : Can you believe this from a Kanga supporter? .....

When I arrived back at the hotel from Docklands last night I thought I would take the opportunity while in Melbourne to listen to SEN Radio.
In a talk back session a caller identified himself as a keen long-time North supporter. Now don't get me wrong, I have always found North people great, in particular their Past Players and Officials Association members for reasons I have well documented in the past here at BF, but this Kangas supporter would be the biggest ignoramus from whom a radio station has ever received a call.
Let's name him Ignor, as his second name would surely be Amus. Ignor was telling this SEN presenter that he thought the Kangas should have put a team of 'the likes of Hawthorn'away in the first quarter.
But the part of the discussion that really gave me the pip was that the SEN presenter (I cant recall his name) was concurring with this jerk.
Ignor has overlooked that North have lost its last seven games whilst our team has won 6 out of their last seven.
Just for interest, here are stats on the Kangas' last seven games.
2006:
Round 19; Down to WC by 26 points,
Rnd 20: Beaten by Melbourne by 32.
Rnd 21: Hawks downed them by 22.
Rnd 22: Thrashed by 11 goals compliments of the Pies.
2007:
Rnd 1: 3pts by Collingwood.
Rnd 2: 16 points by Port.
Rnd 3: Beaten by the Hawks with a margin of 21 points.
I rest my case.
PS: I hope I don't come across as a smart ass here but I was completely irked (I'll get over it:p ).

Know exactly what you mean, Gary.
I know alot of Kangaroos fans in person and they're all terrific people. Yet one thing most of them share in common (notably on BigFooty), is this belief that they have some sort of a status on-field which should see them beat other, better teams.
To be brutally honest, they havn't got much to look forward to this year and they'll probably be in a lot of strife in the years to come.
As the Fox Sports commentators kept on repeating over and over again last night (I think we got it after the first time), they just dont have the talent to match it with other teams.
Wells is one player though who i'd love to get to the Hawks. Such a talented young player who I feel will never aspire to anything whilst at the Roos.

If we had of kicked straight, we would have won by 7 goals plus. Of our 13 behinds I would have thought at least 8 should have been regulation conversions.

Just lately I have felt a real sense of resentment of North people to the Hawthorn footy club.
So much so, I believe rather than Shinboners they are more S*itcanners.
Derision on the footy show from JB because they did a deal for Johnny Hay (when he was not on the committee and probably did not know much about it) has probably been the most outstanding example, but I just feel North Melbourne seems to blame us for everything these days.

It was the rivalry round
North Melbourne are inferior to the Hawthorn Football Club in all respects - end of story.

People tend to blame others when they don't want to blame themselves. North Melbourne is a club that is not sustainable. The CBF is the only thing keeping them afloat otherwise they would have gone to the Gold Coast years ago.
Brayshaw is no Eddie McGuire and no messiah to the club. The club is not sustainable and will move.
Problem is with some North melbourne people is the truth hurts. Fact is the Hay situation was of there own making. Their football department was inept.
In their desparation not to bottom out, they f***** themselves up good and proper.

They have the worst supporters of the lot. I was minding my own buisiness on Sunday Nights match, only to be insaulted by Kangaroo supporters in their cheersquad on the level bellow. One used an abusive hand gesture towards me, where i replied with "look at the score." Only to have a Bunch of "wog"(excuse the french" roo supporters say "why are you such a f***ing ugly cun*, you f***ing ugly c***."
Now i have nothing against Letting your opposition supporters have it (when it is to do with the game) but to have personal insaults is just plain wrong, and shows the narrow mindedness of clubs who have embrased mediocracy like theirs.
If it wasn't for the kindness of one of our fellow hawk supporters (with 3 kids) I may well have found myself in a hospital, as their supporters did seem like they would "go" me, for supporting my club.

Yes, MM. In the days when the Bombastics played out at Windy Hill one couldn't go there and yell out 'Carn Hawks! Opposing members were to be seen and not heard. Barracking for your team was against local law.
When Knightsy took that screamer over Van Der (Ha Ha) Harr I yelled out 'Knightseeeee!!!' A big fat sheila cracked me on the head with her brolly.
The umbrella ended up in a mangled mess at her feet. Of course from then-on I prayed for rain :D.

Same sorta thing happened to me on sunday, at the end of the game a roo supporter with his 3 kids walked passed me, i casually said Go Hawks! and he turned around and said "im going to fu*k u up c**t" in front of his 3 kids no older then about 9, qute disgraceful.
He didnt bash me, but there was a bit of pushing.
I just hope this sorta stuff doesnt come into our great game and lead to segragated crowds and the like

I like getting stuck into the Kangaroos, but right now I'm feeling sorry for them. They're losing games, losing money, have a dud coach and are looking 100% likely to go the gold coast.
Hey, anything to this thread?

Don't want to be contrary but you guys seem to be blind to the facts.
North in the 1st Quarter had enough of the ball and shots at goal to have a significant lead at 1/4 time. If they had kicked straight in the 1st 1/4 they could have been 30 points up.
We were pretty ordinary in the 1st 1/4 just kicked in the forward 50 and seemed to be aiming at their loose man.
2nd 1/4 wasn't much better. Its wasn't untill the 2nd half Crawf and Mitch went to 1/2 forward did we get our structures right and looked the much better side.
I was at the game and this how I saw it

I don't think that is what we are complaining about, just the arrogance, and vulgarness of the Roo Supporters

From the perspective of a Roos supporter, I honestly thought we should of had a bigger lead at 1/4 time, not being arrogant or trying to troll, but u blokes werent looking as fluent out of the midfield and willo had a limited impact.
But once u got sammy mitchell firing and the forward structure firing, use were simply 2 good. In general the skill level from both sides in various times was pretty crap.

My brother is a Kangas member, and I called him before the game on Sunday to wish him a Happy Birthday. He asked me where I was, and I told him I was at the footy. He then proceeded to call me a "bandwagonner" (I'll fix him right up next time I see him), but also said to me that "if you can't beat us, you're going nowhere." ;)

..... will someone please tell that cheer squad" NO SUCH TEAM AS NORTH MELBOURNE", they are the north kangaroos.
They are a business entity, a limited company with shareholders. The registered name is North Melbourne Football Club Ltd.
For mine, I break it up, sometimes, I call them the Kangas, sometimes Kangaroos, North Melbourne or simply North. Who cares?
At the moment I'll call them the Cantaroos. Haven't won a game in seven.
