his wife was the one who came out and broke the story with the evidence
Why should Selwood admit to something he didn't do and was found not guilty of?
It's like you being charged with a murder, being found not guily of the murder but still saying to everyone yep i did it.

Selwood said something, it wasn't what Des thought he heard, Des reacted due to comments what he thought he heard and wasn't able to prove anything of what he thought he heard Selwood said.
