Was happily watching Carorine Wirson and Greg Miller go at it on Footy Classified, before Kym Dillon pops up and says, "we now take you to Australia vs. Sri Lanka".
Sure we all loved the 1999 World Cup when we saw Waugh's boys steal victory from the jaws of defeat against those wannabe Aussies the Saffers not once but twice, but for the love of Gary Ablett, how long does this tournament want to go for?
The locals have voted with their feet and don't bother attending, probably because Bob Woolmer was murdered three years ago and we're still not up to the Semi Final stage.
Is anybody else over it yet? Or am I alone in my whites, god's daylight and desire to see something on channel 9 other than swimming and cricket?

Definately. Its footy season FFS.
Lets watch the whole FC then go to the cricket, even if we had to miss Jayasarya wicket.

I am glad the footy season is back. The cricket World Cup has gone on far, far too long and the tickets are so damn expensive that the locals can't afford it, they have all banned 'calypso' from the grounds too.
*Yawns*
I'm a huge cricket fan but this has been torture.
The the BCCI have and will continue to destroy the game. Driven by $$$ and the ICC are bending over backwards to accommodate the pricks.
For shame
For shame
I call for the death of all forms of cricket other than the real stuff. Test Match Cricket.

I am pissed that they cut the Footy Classified short. It was once again a good show. FFS get it right Ch 9
Just about to see Miller humiliated. Then WAM, it was gone.

They have to show the World Cup live though... what would you do if they started coverage of a Crow game late?

Why not start FC half an hour earlier?
So if they kept FC on and the 3 wickets fell... then a thread would have been started by someone wanting the criket on
9 cant win. It was a scheduled program and FC should have been shown ''live'' or delayed for the half time break

We leave cricket matches all the time for news services, etc. "Our Adelaide viewers will now be leaving us for the news, see you in half an hour".
Can't see why we couldn't have joined that little bit later or as Stifler said, they move their programming forward a bit - they've also done that for TFS when they've had to cross to Wimbledon, etc.
Failing that, the tournament should already be over as you alluded to earlier.
I've had two birthdays since the thing started.

I enjoy the cricket, and have been watching a fair bit of the world cup on foxtel but I agree, it goes for too long. Im going to be over it before the final with the footy season getting further along.
I agree that 9 could of either delayed Footy Classified for the break, or when they cut to the cricket said Footy Classified will be continued during the break and those interested could of atleast recorded it or something..

WC Dragging on a bit, but still happy to watch it. It is getting interesting now to see who will make the 4th spot. However they MUST reduce it's length next time (as we said last time and the time before and the time before) Tait getting a bit of a hammering:(
First time I've seen Footy Classified - look quite good.

I'm with channel nine on this one. World class event, whether you like it or not. Or whether its gone on to long or not.
Perhaps you could compare The start of a crows game with Richie and Mark Nicholas talking smack about Warney's latest misbehaviour.
Ticketing systems and entry conditions are ridiculous - cousin who' s a reporter for BBC said its been crap, and the locals are all appalled and subsequently boycotting games.
Oh, and Symonds is a gun.

I have been in Thailand on my honeymoon for the past month (got back a week ago) so I haven't seen much of the cricket, to be honest I must be the only one who is glad its gone on this long:thumbsu:.
Whats the deal with the ticketing system and entry conditions etc? It must be fairly bad for the locals (who love the game) are boycotting.
I was just saying tonight this World Cup is more like the movie The Never Ending Story.
I must say I'm disappointed with the crowd and atmosphere. When they said the World Cup was going to be in the Windies I thought there would be horns blowing, drums beating and crowd chanting throughout the 100 overs, but at times it little more than a golf clap or loud cheer :thumbsd:

And quite rightly too. What the eff is "Footy Classified" anyway?

The prices start around $100 per ticket which is more than most people earn in a week and they are also not allowed to take in their drums etc. as all musical instruments are banned. No wonder the locals aren't going, prices too dear and they can't support their team like they have previously. That was why so many people have gone to the windies for the World Cup, to soak up that type of atmosphere and it's just dead and boring.
Just about to see Miller humiliated. Then WAM, it was gone.
I was pretty miffed at this too - the first episode of FC was really good, last week was pretty ordinary, and just as this one was getting really interesting...
It looked to be a real time management TFU by nine - the program's on late enough to start with thanks to Eddie & CSI NY, you would think they could have moved it forward or given the breaking stories actually have the foresight to move it back a day.
After the first three weeks it's hard to know where this show is going - they seemed to have put a lot of effort into the launch, but after this blunder I wonder how serious they really are about it.

I dont think C9 had a choice but to show the game. I agree they should of moved the scheduling, I hadnt caught FC before so I was really enjoying it.
On the world cup, the entire thing has been a balls up, partly not their fault with India and Pakistan failing again, but seriously who ever came up with the scheduling, the ticket prices and the way they have treated the local crowd, they shiould be sacked. They have turned cricketings showpiece into a yawnfest.

Kane McGoodwin is over ther, correct? During one of the Aussie game (against WI as I recall) I saw a bloke in the crowd wearing a Crows jumper. Might it have been him? I guess we'll find out when he gets back.
One thing I want to do in this lifetime.
Go on a cricket tour to watch the Aussies, probably in England, and wear a footy jumper.

I agree the tournament has taken FOREVER.
Surely they could organize to play every second day?
Surely that is not too much to expect?
It should be over by now.

Who should play every second day??
The problem is the TV contract demanded that there can only be one Super 8 match per day which is why it takes so damn long. The ICC could learn a lot from FIFA and the way they schedule their World Cup.

Every team should play every second day.
In the super 8's, you have to play each other team once, so that would at least take 14 days anyway... Maybe you can have some 4 day breaks in there.
Anyway, as it stands, you have 4 day breaks, which takes a month to get through super 8 alone...

What a massive failure this World Cup has been.
Only a few of the matches have been real close (except for the minnows scrapping it out and the SL vs SA game)
There have been no real "sudden-death" games of any significance
All the matches are played during the day, which IMO, is a lesser spectacle than night games. This is probably due to the grounds not having lighting (then why have it in the WI?) or TV schedules
Bigger crowds to watch the Redbacks play a 20/20 game (probably because watching the Redbacks is a comedy show also)I have gotten to a point where I really don't care who wins the tournament. Criticism has been drawn of the Showdown 22 attendance of 36k. I think the WC organisers would love a crowd that big for their Final!!!

Some teams are having one week+ breaks at this world cup, that is a joke! If they had 2 Super 8 games on each day it would be fine and teams would get a decent break between matches. I'm not even that keen on each team playing each other once in the Super 8s, there is no need and there are too many dead rubbers.

We were in the US for the last two weeks and didnt have a clue what was going on - am surprised it's still bloody on! So we too are glad we didn't miss it! Having said that, there's only so many late nights one can have - at least we can blame the tiredness now on jet-lag! :D

I also heard that at some grounds you need to park a couple of kilometres away as well.
Then there's the Sir Viv Richards Stadium, with drainage like Adelaide Oval's (at least Adelaide Oval are fixing theirs now so SANFL players aren't playing water polo when it rains).
Channel 9's coverage is annoying as well when they dubb over the international broadcast commentators with their own commentators - sure the first couple of balls to finish their pre-match coverage is fine, but 3,4,5 overs in is just ridiculous. I can only watch it on Fox because 9 are doing to the world cup what 7 are doing to the football.
The ICC have totally botched up this World Cup. Hopefully the Twenty20 World Cup later in the year is a big improvement.
The only bright thing to come out is Ireland - except for their game against Australia, they've been a bright light in what has been a dull tournament.

I was too until last night. The drums are back and went absolutely non-stop throughout the Australian innings. Initially I thought you beauty, the music's back - about 10 minutes later it was STFU already!!!

There's just far too much cricket being played worldwide.
Test Cricket is fantastic but that is continually being swamped by too many meaningless ODIs - and now we're trying to see Twenty20 being pushed to prominence.
Where does it stop?
Ten10? Five5? Teams rocking up just to compete in those abortive 'penalty shootout' bowl-offs?
Only cricket could turn its showpiece quadrennial tournament into a snoozefest that has even ardent cricket fans and players yawning and checking their watch.
When Kallis is leading the runs tally, you know it's a boring World Cup.

The Twenty20 World Cup will be on in September I think? So that will be at the same time as footy finals - therefore I bet a lot of people won't really care about it, I know I won't.
As DT said, there is way too much cricket. Have a look at the CB series, each team played each other what.. 4 times was it? That is absolutely ridiculous and that dragged on far too long, the emphatic 5-0 Ashes demolition seemed a long way away by the time the finals commenced.
