If it's found that he did say it, he should be slapped around the head and told it's not on.
Let's see, we have Selwood who allegedly said these things (which he denies) and might get a criminal record.
Or on the other hand we have players who definately were involved in sexual abuse (as in actual sexual abuse, not just words) and still play today without any sort of punishment.

This could turn really ugly for selwood should he be found guilty.

Criminal charges. Next I'll be complaining to the police every second time I go out. Our courts will be overflowing with people filing law-suits for off-the-cuff comments.
People who think he should face criminal charges should be charged themselves for bringing society into disrepute :thumbsd:
freedom of speech :thumbsu:. How can he get a criminal record for this?!

You watch too much American TV. There is no free speech in the Australian Constitution except when relating to government or political matters.
But thats besides the point, no Selwood shouldnt get a criminal record, unless people think it would be okay to have Des charged with assault...

I don't think either is appropriate, this is mad, a criminal record you must be joking. Calm down people we should be alert not alarmed. Maybe we should revoke his citizenship, he could play for the Christmas Island Crocs.
This is starting to get ridiculous

A woman from the Australian Families Association has called upon the police to investigate whether criminal charges can be laid. What a pathetic joke of an organisation :thumbsd:

I was thinking the same, pretty shocking form.
But I think Selwood should be jailed and banned for life - paedophilia should be stamped out of society.
What's worse? Saying something stupid to a bloke on a football field, or raping someone?

I reckon what he said (or alleged to have said) was totally wrong but this is ridiculous.

Uh... is it even possible to be given a criminal record or be criminally charged for using abusive comments towards another individual? I know there is obviously a law against this in regards to using offensive language towards police, but nothing else that i know of apart from disturbing the peace which can be related.
If there is such a law it is obviously insignificant as i have never heard of someone being convicted/fined for it. At the very least i would have thought that civil action is the least that can be done.
This is bloody stupid.
Did he actually do anything illegal? No! Christ, you'd think some people here claim he's up for sexual offences FFS!
What he said was disgusting and stupid, but at the end of the day, it was a poor sledge. It does not constitute a sexual act with a minor, it is a sledge intended to harrass and insult his target.

Totally with you on this one. And anyone that's been a victim of abuse would rather the words than the physical anyday.
