I'll do a PBP here if possible...

Webcast info (outside of Fox Footy's coverage): K-ROCK in Geelong doesn't stream its audio, 5AA in Adelaide also carries the game, but I can't find a live audio link for them for the life of me. :(

If anyone else can provide the "live audio" link for 5AA, please feel free to post it here. Also feel free to chime in if you can help out with the PBP (Fox Footy viewers, anyone?)...

Cheers,
William

Quickie analysis:

With ten scoring chances yielding only three goals, the off-target finishing by the Crows is keeping Geelong right into the hunt. And with the Cats gaining just a bit of confidence at the siren, this game is closer than it looks.

One major and one minor score bring the Cats' deficit back to 31.

Adelaide 16.14 (110)
Geelong 12.7 (79)

And that's full time!

Seems like the Cats showed some promise against a contending side, but just enough improvement to (a) get off the bottom of the ladder, it would seem, and (b) show that a chemistry is beginning to come together.

Any other thoughts?

Cheers,
William

you_idiot,

There were some very positive signs tonight...

1.) Geelong showed great character after being totally thrashed in the first half to come back and make a contest of the game.

2.) James Bartel looks like he's going to develop into a quality player for our club, getting some good possessions and although he gave away a 50 metre penalty, I really enjoyed his game... probably the highlight of the season so far!! :)

3.) Gary Ablett Jnr. got some good touches tonight and looks like he will also be a good player for us in time.

4.) Joel Corey and Corey Enright are developing nicely for us and look like being quality players for us... both still so young.

5.) Steven King played well tonight... good to see him returning to some good form.

Go Cats!! :)

Well said, SeinDude. But I would like to add a couple of things to what you're saying...

Too true-- but still, it's a shame they could not capitalise on that momentum they should have carried over from the third term. Granted, however, this is both a young team and one with some important newcomers, and that is a trait that follows with both experience and chemistry. It will develop in due time.

Sounds like this might have been the turning point in the game, Bartel giving away the 50-metre penalty?

Just as we all have been saying about Junior. Very promising first term from him.

The learning curve definitely exists on these two-- and (dare I say it) they might be progressing faster than Ablett Junior himself.

A good omen, indeed, but King needs Ronnie Burns to serve as an adequate foil as well, if the Cats are to put together an array of wins on the trot to turn the season around in the early going.

William
