Isn't it exciting seeing the last couple of weeks how our new players have played. I am expecting at some stage, that these guys (Hawkins, Selwood, Varcoe, Djurreka, etc) are going to be premiership players. Nathan Ablett is another youngster cementing himself in the team. What do you guys think of our new recruits? Does it bring some siver lining to the dark clouds of last year?:)

Yeh, it is a good prospect with our new players especially up foward. We're starting to look like have a threatening fowardline. I mean even in the Bulldogs game, the foward line seemed to function pretty well - it was just that the midfield was feeding it to them very well.
When the champagne came out and the fireworks whistled when the clock ticked past 12 on New Years eve, I thought to myself: " Geelong have a real opportunity this year and next, BUT if the stuff it up as in 2006 then we might have to rebuild again" Why did I worry that we had 2 years to win our flag.
1. Our acclaimed great defence would be getting old and rundown by 2009 (Scarlett/Harley)
2. If our midfield was already one paced, spare the thought they are only gunna get slower
3. King has 2 at the absolute most (probably stretching it) years in his body
4. I cant see N Ablett holding down Full forward after Kingsley departs
But 4 months on since I had those thoughts I realise we have a future in 2009, 2010 and probably all the way to 2020.
Hawkins - Ohhh Plugga Hawk (c u later key forward problems)
N Ablett - Five goals against Carlton (c u later key forward problems x2)
Prismall- Those foot skills are great (Ohh a midfielder who can hit a leading target, Tom and Nath will love u.)
Selwood - Their is a future captain (c u later leadership problems + great midfielder)
Varcoe - (X factor)
Blake - Ahh we dont have to rely on King
Djerkurra- Shows promise
Egan - CHB covered

Let's not forget Mooney as a leadership contender, he's the king in the forward line. It's quite visible.
Please remember Corey and Enright, not to mention Chapman, Ablett and Prismall etc in the middle for medium to long term depth and we look good.

WAAAA WAA WA WAIT!
THink about how stupid this thread is. 2009 a premiership year. You cant just claim it because you'll have a good team.
We could have said that about 94, possibly the greatest geelong team ever but they'll always be forgotten because those dirty ****ers from the west took our premiership... the only one we've deserved for the last 20 years.

It's a good time to be a fan of the Cats but we probably need to be prepared for a lot of inconsistency out of our young players. Tom isn't going to kick four every week and we will have to be careful about how we manage the kids, because we certainly don't want a rash of injuries.
Exciting times ahead, though, and plenty of promise in the ranks.

suspect you think that promise extends to tom couch too dont you... shame on you.
Speaking of the VFL, the kid is debuting this weekend at KP on sat. Ryan Gamble looks promising as well but he wont be playing. THe rest of the team doesnt please me as much as it should.
